Double Bay’s Royal Oak Hotel sold to Ryan family in rumoured $100m deal

The Royal Oak Hotel in Double Bay has been very popular in recent years. Well-known drinking hole the Royal Oak Hotel in Double Bay has changed hands for a rumoured $100m after getting snapped up by the hotelier Ryan family in an off market deal. The venue was sold by the Royal Hotels Group, which had owned and operated the establishment for the past 15 years. The deal was brokered by HTL Property directors Andrew Jolliffe and Dan Dragicevich. The sale price has not been disclosed, but industry sources have revealed the transaction was likely about $100m. “We’re delighted to have acquired such a well-known hotel and look forward to continuing the outstanding custodianship carried by the Royal Hotels Group,” said incoming owner Patrick Ryan. The pub was sold in an off market deal. The Ryan family owns a spread of pubs throughout Sydney including the Ship Inn, The Orient, and The Paragon Hotel in Sydney’s Circular Quay. Outgoing owner Ed Malouf of Royal Hotels Group wished the new owners well, noting the Ryans’ longstanding reputation as astute operators in the hotel industry.
