Early site works have commenced on Oro Newstead marking a milestone for Brisbane’s inner north and the beginning of the first residential tower within Newstead’s emerging Little Italy precinct.
Located at 75 Longland St, it will become the tallest residential building in Newstead, introducing a new landmark to the suburb while anchoring the future mixed-use precinct.
The project is being developed and built by locally based Panettiere Developments, continuing the family’s long history in construction and residential development across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Developer Max Panettiere from Panettiere Developments said Oro Newstead was the first residential component of the Little Italy precinct, a neighbourhood inspired by Italian architecture, street life and food culture.
Oro Newstead from Panettiere Developments will become the tallest building in the suburb with residences priced from $1.07m.
“Designed as a walkable, connected destination, the precinct will introduce dining, retail and activated laneways, placing future residents within an established inner-city setting while adding a new layer of character to Newstead,” he said.
“The name ‘Oro’, meaning gold in Italian, informed the overall design approach.
“The tower features a sculptural, stepped form with a warm material palette that draws on European references while remaining grounded in its urban context.
“Travertine-inspired finishes and generous glazing are used to create a sense of permanence, light and openness, with expansive views across the city and surrounding districts.
Oro Newstead will deliver 197 residences, sub penthouses and penthouses with between one and five bedrooms.
“At street level, the building integrates directly with the future Little Italy precinct through a piazza-style ground plane.
“This interface is designed to encourage movement, interaction and everyday activity, reinforcing a pedestrian-focused lifestyle rather than a closed residential address.”
The development will have 197 residences, ranging between one and five bedrooms, including apartments, sub-penthouses and penthouses.
“Floorplans have been designed with space and flexibility at the forefront, responding to owner occupiers seeking long-term liveability rather than short-term solutions,” Mr Panettiere said.
The Little Italy precinct will introduce dining, retail and activated laneways.
“Layouts are intended to adapt across different life stages, appealing to downsizers, professional couples and families alike.
“Interiors by Carr adopt a restrained, timeless approach. Full-height glazing, generous proportions and thoughtful indoor-outdoor flow are paired with a material palette influenced by Mediterranean sensibilities.
“Kitchens and bathrooms incorporate integrated European appliances, refined joinery and durable finishes selected for longevity and everyday use.”
Residents will also have access to a private wellness and lifestyle offering known as Club Oro.
The completion target date for Oro Newstead is 2029.
Amenities span multiple levels and include a heated rooftop pool with dining areas and city views, an indoor heated pool with hot and cold plunge zones, gym and pilates and yoga spaces, sauna, steam and salt therapy rooms, private dining facilities, residents’ lounges, co-working spaces with podcast rooms and a dedicated guest suite.
According to Mr Panettiere, Oro Newstead represents both a continuation of the family’s construction legacy and a response to how people want to live in Brisbane today.
A one-bedroom design with a multipurpose room is priced from $1.07m, two-bedroom residences start at $2.1m and a two-bedroom residence with a multipurpose room is priced from $2.3m.
Prices for three-bedroom residences begin at $2.6m and three-bedroom with multipurpose room residences are priced from $3.8m. Completion of Oro Newstead is targeted for 2029.
