A US couple who made headlines after reportedly spending $2.7 million renovating their home for their dog have hit back at claims they spent a fortune on their pooch. Howard and Suze Rubin sparked an online backlash over reports they had bought and transformed a four-bedroom property in Pound Ridge, New York, specifically to accommodate their nine-year-old Collie, Buster. The couple relocated from Florida in 2019 after realising the warmer climate did not suit the dog, purchasing the modern house for US$1.825 million ($A2.75 million). Reports later claimed they poured another $US2 million ($A3 million) into dog-friendly upgrades, including artificial turf, a fenced yard, and sun shelves built into the swimming pool. “It is like a party all day for him,” Mr Rubin told People.
