A desire to ditch the back yard continues to drive interest in well-positioned units across Geelong.
A two-bedroom brick townhouse at 2/100 Mt Pleasant Rd, Belmont, is the latest to be snapped up, with downsizers purchasing the 399sq m property for $660,000.
Ray White, Highton agent Sean O’Brien said the location close to Highton Village and a quality Malishev build attracted more than 30 groups during the campaign.

“There was really good interest and then a lovely couple from Torquay that wanted to downsize and be closer to more local amenities and family ended up buying,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Location was key for these people, purely based on family not being too far away.”
Beautiful established gardens and a bullnose veranda wrap around the classic styled townhouse, which also has private outdoor entertainment area at the rear.
A central open-plan living area, including a dining space featuring a bay windows and external French doors, is complemented by two bedrooms and a study with a built-in desk and storage.
“It had a great front garden and great internal spaces as well,” Mr O’Brien said.
“The Malishev name certainly still goes a long way with the older generation with the work they did back in the ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s.”
He said affordability pressures and the desire for low maintenance lifestyle was driving demand for units.
“If you have a look at the townhouse/unit market, it’s is absolutely flying,” he said.
“It is all about liveability at the moment for people, price point being the main one but also that lock and leave lifestyle. People don’t want the maintenance and upkeep of a big family home these days unless you have got a need for that.”
