Aussies looking to beat labour and material shortages in the housing construction sector are turning to China to solve their problems – and saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process. A shortage of skilled workers and global economic impacts have sent the cost of building a new home in Australia soaring in recent months. The cost of building a home rose by 1 per cent in April alone as a direct result of conflict in the Middle East, putting the national average house build cost up to $522,537. Ms Davis charges clients a $15,000 fee to help source flooring, doors, windows, cabinetry and other custom fixtures.
