Aussie couple’s wild Japan property move

A FIFO couple who once chased mining money across Australia and New Zealand have built a surprising new life in Japan after buying a 12-bedroom ski lodge instead of a holiday home. What started as a post-wedding property search turned into a dramatic career and lifestyle overhaul, with Neil Denize and Tayler Paulsen walking away from offshore mining and pouring their money into a growing tourism business in one of Japan’s snowiest regions. After marrying in New Zealand in 2018, the pair set out looking for a small holiday home in Japan. Instead, they ended up buying Mountain Hut, a 12-bedroom lodge in Myoko, a ski region in Niigata Prefecture about three hours from Tokyo by bullet train. “We always loved Japan.
