A stylish renovation in Adelaide’s west has likely achieved a significant windfall for its vendors, who lived in the home for just four years.

The four-bedroom, double-storey home at 99 Lochside Drive, West Lakes, has undergone a dramatic facelift and is almost unrecognisable to when it was bought by the vendors for $803,000 in 2021.

Gone are the cream brick exterior, tired carpet and tiled floors and traditional chandeliers.

In their place is a modern, white-rendered Hamptons exterior, along with elegant herringbone flooring and contemporary lighting.

A sleek new alfresco, with a built-in BBQ, opens off the revamped family room, with no sign of the old, exposed brick walls or 80s-style bar.

There’s also a sparkling new in-ground mineral pool with luxurious spa jets.

Only the marble-swathed kitchen – newly installed prior to the vendors purchasing the home

– remains largely untouched.

With the transformation complete, the owners have now made the surprise decision to sell the home.

Selling agent Rosemary Auricchio, from LJ Hooker, said while the selling price remained confidential, the vendors had “done well’’, with multiple offers received.

PropTrack records put the revamped property’s worth at about $1.665 million.

“People might think that it’s a lot of money but you have to think about the work that has

gone into it,’’ Ms Auricchio said.

“It was (formerly) a colonial-style home – quite nicely done but it had a very different feel.

“There were (previously) colonial, country tones throughout versus what we ended up selling, which was a very modern, contemporary Hamptons style that was fresh and felt light and bright.

“(The vendors) did extensive work to it and they put in the pool, which alone was probably

around $100,000.’’

Ms Auricchio described the renovation as a labour of love for the vendors, who initially

planned to live in the home long term.

However, work commitments now required a move interstate.

“They really put a lot of heart into what they did,’’ she said.

“It’s basically changed the whole feel and style of the property and changed the type of buyers we were going out to as well.

“The fact that all the work had been done was very appealing to a lot of buyers. Being move-

in ready got us very strong buyer interest.’’
