United Petroleum bigwig and one of Australia’s richest men, Avi Silver, has listed his Merricks North abode.

United Petroleum co-founder and billionaire Avi Silver has listed his spectacular Mornington Peninsula property with a $6.95m price tag.

Along with fellow fuel king Eddie Hirsch, Mr Silver started operating service stations in Victoria during the 1980s.

Their gasoline empire now boasts about 500 servos across Australia, many incorporating the Pie Face food brand, and is one of the nation’s largest private companies.

Mr Hirsch and Mr Silver, who are worth a combined $4.03bn, were ranked at number 39 and 40 respectively on the list of Australia’s richest people published by The Australian newspaper in March 2026.

Apart from petrol, the duo oversee a portfolio including Queensland’s Brampton Island resort project and a thoroughbred racehorse breeding and training complex based in the Macedon Ranges Shire town of Tylden.

There’s multiple living areas, a study and two main bedroom suites, both with ensuites and walk-in wardrobes.

Mr Silver’s six-bedroom house in Merricks North features a 20m-long infinity-edged swimming pool which runs under the home.

Other highlights include rammed earth walls, a parents’ retreat showcasing a Jetmaster open fireplace, five bathrooms, a study and three-car garage.

The sprawling block offers views across neighbouring farmland.

RT Edgar’s Michael Ebeling, who has the listing alongside David Gillham and Jack Edgar, declined to comment on the owners.

However, records show the property is held in the name of a company of which Mr Silver is director.

The house was originally constructed by local builder Neil Williams & Sons who sold it in 2020.

Their website states that the residence has a 32 tonne steel frame.

Mr Ebeling said the cantilevered and contemporary abode offered plenty of room for multi-generational living or guests to stay.

“It’s a pretty generous house that’s very spacious so you could easily entertain 40, 50 or 60 people here,” he said.

“It was architecturally, beautifully designed and even on a very overcast day plenty of light comes inside, every room is sun-filled.”

The house is close to the Jackalope Hotel, Balnarring Beach, Red Hill and wineries.

The pool house contains a kitchenette and powder room, and there’s an outdoor entertainer’s area with a barbecue.

Mr Ebeling said the current owners had updated the residence by adding matt black zinc cladding on the outside of the house, plus re-landscaping the garden and installing new drainage.

He noted hydronic heated flooring enhances cosiness in colder months, while a high front fence creates a sense of privacy.

Some Sydney-based buyers flew in to inspect the house this week, he added.

Mr Ebeling said the home would likely attract a mix of buyers including owner-occupiers, people wanting to work from home while enjoying a beach lifestyle and those seeking a coastal retreat.

Expressions of interest will close at 1pm on April 28.
