Model Kristina Mendonca, who posted videos to her 477,000 social media followers documenting her first home-buying experience, has settled on a $1,246,000 Rose Bay apartment bought at a recent auction.

Mendonca has now sought advice for her renovation plans.

“I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately because moving into my new apartment has fully taken over my life,” she told her followers.

“Dreams really do come true,” she said.

The purchase by the 28-year-old, who models at Kult Australia, came just three weeks into a renewed search earlier this year, following frustrations last spring.

“I’m about to buy my first ever apartment as a single freelancer without any help from my parents.”

The two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment sold through Monica Shor and Simone Curran of Raine & Horne at Cooley Auctions. It last sold for $940,000 in 2019.

Her postings suggested she’d gained financing insights from Core Mortgage Brokers, with the borrowing coming from NAB.

“I just bought a house!” her success video advised.

“So there was me and one other guy bidding, and I was like, looking at him like pffft you really wanna play this game bruh?”

“But I won, so I won,” she concluded.

She was accompanied at the auction by Nick Biasotto of Siite Buyers Agency.

“The feeling of being a homeowner, I don’t know, its weird,” she said later posted.

“I feel like I think more about buying a pair of jeans than what I did about just buying that house, I was like yeah whatever finally bought a house.

“Anyways um, (I) feel good, feel a bit nervous, but yeah let’s go baby,” she exclaimed.

Mendonca had voiced frustrations last November in achieving her aim, which she described as “the biggest decision of my life”.

“This whole house search is so draining, what I want is just so out of my budget, and it’s just crazy how much houses are listing for and then they’re just selling for so much more, like the market is wild at the moment.”

“I feel like I’m just going around in circles, so I just hired a buyers’ agent … honestly I just feel like everything is so seamless now.”

Her purchase comes amid pre-federal budget commentary about intergenerational inequity.

A report by economics research company E61 last month questioned the legitimacy of the debate on intergenerational equity, arguing the data suggests the story of wealth creation and division is one of delay rather than decline.
