Square Peg Capital co-founder Paul Bassat, who has warned the capital gains tax changes in the federal budget could cause an exodus of talent from Australia, is selling the North Bondi bolthole he owns with his wife, Sharon.

It has been listed for June 16 auction amid an increasingly topsy-turvy market, with the four-bedroom, three-bathroom Brighton Boulevard offering having an $11.5m buyers’ guide.

The marketing suggests the three-level home “evokes the relaxed glamour of Palm Springs while perfectly attuned to Australian beach life”.

There’s a Calacatta marble island kitchen with a Ilve range cooker, integrated Sub-Zero fridge, walk-in pantry and a concealed coffee station with Zip HydropTap.

The home sits in north-facing gardens designed by Garden Life, which features a 15m Italian mosaic-tiled pool.

The home was bought by the Armadale, Melbourne-based couple for $10.25m mortgage-free in 2022, just seven days after coming with $8.25m hopes.

Its listing sits amid dynamic seesawing circumstances, exacerbated by the current uncertainty arising from the proposed budget measures.

Bassat, who co-founded job advertisement giant Seek in 1997, has been critical of the CGT changes on local start-ups.

“Companies like Canva, Afterpay and Atlassian have had a huge positive impact on our country. Imagine if the next Canva doesn’t get built or if it gets built overseas,” Bassat wrote on LinkedIn.

His investments have included fintech Airwallex, Athena Home Loans and design platform Canva.

The home has a $11.5m price guide.
