Former footballer Bernie Evans and his siblings are selling 9/107-109 East Boundary Rd, Bentleigh East, on behalf of their mother June.

Sydney Swans Hall of Famer Bernie Evans and his siblings are selling their mother’s Bentleigh East unit with a $750,000-$800,000 range.

In the 1980s, Evans played 148 games with South Melbourne and then Sydney, as the team became known when it moved to NSW.

He was named the Swans’ Best and Fairest and an All-Australian in 1984, before moving to Carlton for three seasons.

Evans said his mum, June, was downsizing from the two-bedroom unit at 9/107-109 East Boundary Rd which she bought roughly 15 years ago after Evans’ father, Kevin, passed away.

“It’s in a nice area, she thoroughly enjoyed living there and having her independence,” Evans said.

He added that June, aged 94, loved tending to the plants in the rear garden which has artificial lawn, and a paved seating area.

The home features a kitchen, modernised a couple of years ago, with stone benchtops, an induction cooktop and a stainless-steel Westinghouse oven.

The open-plan living and dining zone is fitted with timber floors and a Samsung split-system air conditioner, while the main bedroom offers built-in wardrobes and a ceiling fan.

Other highlights include a gas wall heater, Bosch instant hot water, the bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower, a dedicated laundry room and single garage.

O’Brien property consultant and auctioneer John Rombotis said although the unit’s address was technically East Boundary Rd, the residence was actually situated on nearby England St where its entrypoint is located.

“It’s in a really quiet little spot and not the main road,” Mr Rombotis added.

“It would suit a first-home buyer, an older person who is downsizing, a couple or a young family, with a child in the second bedroom.”

The garden is low-maintenance with artificial lawn and a paved seating area.

Bentleigh Secondary College and East Bentleigh Primary School are both close by along with bus routes and Bentleigh railway station.

“It’s near GESAC (Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre), the Centre Rd shops and Duncan Mackinnon Reserve is around the corner,” Mr Rombotis added.

Expressions of interest close at 4pm on July 1.
