A year after surviving a house fire, this entertainment power couple are rebuilding their home.
A year after flames tore through their Brisbane home in the middle of the night, TV personality Mike Goldman and actor-comedian Bianca Zouppas are finally rebuilding — transforming the property that nearly claimed their lives into their dream family home.
The couple, along with their one-year-old son Jagger, narrowly escaped the inferno after their smoke alarm woke them just in time.

Goldman, best known as the iconic voice of Big Brother, and Zouppas, creator of the cult comedy character Katrina, Wog Wife of Bulimba, fled as fire engulfed their Bulimba house.
Fire investigators later told the family the cause was “inconclusive”.
“They think maybe it started where the electrical box was, so underneath the house, but we don’t know,” Ms Zouppas said.
Now, work is underway to bring the home back to life. Smoke-damaged walls are being demolished, damaged timber floors repaired, and the layout completely reimagined.

The home’s once-cramped kitchen will become a sitting room leading into a new master suite and river-facing deck, while a spacious open-plan kitchen with a floating island will become the heart of the home.
“I honestly love this house,” Ms Zouppas said. “It is so beautiful, and it’s going to have so much character when we’re finished with it.”
The rebuild comes after an extraordinary year for the couple, who also opened a new creative hub in Brisbane.

They recently launched Jagger Rocky Studios — named after their son — in a Coorparoo warehouse they purchased for just over $1m. The studio is designed as a space where artists and creatives can record, film, collaborate and connect.
To help fund the project, Goldman sold his Gold Coast apartment for $1.3m.
“We had mortgaged our house to buy that, but then it burnt down,” he said.
While the rebuild continues, the family is renting in Ascot and looking forward to returning home.
