An apartment that is four times bigger than the average Aussie house will go under the hammer next month after its current owner purchased it off-the-plan from a Japanese actress in 2005.
Located at 3901/5-19 Palm Avenue in Surfers Paradise, the double-storey penthouse in Crown Towers spans a whopping 818sq m.

To put that into perspective, the average Aussie house is 214sq m, the biggest in the world, according to World Population Review, making the size of the skyhome even more staggering.
It is being marketed by Ray White Main Beach agent Robbie Graham and will go to auction on February 12.
Owner Rosemary Fitch, 84, is downsizing to a more accessible residence after two decades of family gatherings, including a 70-person wedding held on the property’s protected pool terrace.
“The size, space and privacy are what made this home so special to us,” Ms Fitch, a grandmother-of-nine, said.
“Being able to see the beach, the river and the hills – the views are incredible day and night.
“It’s not just a black hole looking out at the ocean at night.”

What sets this penthouse apart from many other apartments on the Gold Coast is its all-weather covered pool and entertaining terrace, she said.
“It’s a rare sanctuary suspended high above Surfers Paradise that offers protection from southerly winds while delivering panoramic views across the ocean, river and the Broadwater,” she said.
The floorplan is expansive
The floor plan places all main living and entertaining spaces on one level, with the second floor dedicated entirely to four ensuited bedrooms, including an oversized north-facing master retreat with dual walk-in closets.

Wake up to those views
Originally purchased off-plan from a Japanese actress in 2005, the penthouse has had just two owners in its history.
With floor-to-ceiling glass, the penthouse also features never-to-be-built-out views through every room.
The kitchen also enjoys sweeping views
“It’s perfect for a family with its flexibility and privacy, or for anyone who wants to lock up and use it as a holiday destination with your own pool,” Ms Fitch said.
Crown Towers residents can also enjoy resort-style facilities including one of the largest residential pools on the Gold Coast, a heated indoor pool, children’s waterpark with a pirate ship, day spa, fully equipped gym, an in-house restaurant, and landscaped subtropical grounds.
