The public can explore the new Halcyon Horizon clubhouse at a community open day on Saturday.

Property giant Stockland has revealed plans for two more over 55s communities in the Geelong region on the back of its first successful project in Armstrong Creek.

The developer has already sold about half of the 234 lots at Halcyon Horizon, where it’s just completed a $14.5m clubhouse.

Pickleball courts, a golf simulator, indoor and outdoor pools, a bowling green, yoga space and gold class-style cinema headline the new leisure and recreation hub.

Gurner’s $300m Geelong project to launch

Stockland will officially open the clubhouse with a community open day on Saturday as looks to expand its offerings in Geelong’s land lease market.

Stockland Halcyon Victoria general manager James Westh said two additional communities were already planned for Armstrong Creek and Curlewis.

Its next project, Halcyon Grove, will deliver another 350 homes in Armstrong Creek and is expected to come to market next year.

A third flagship over 55s community is expected to launch in Curlewis towards the end of 2026.

“That is about 400 homes and we see real benefit there because it’s right next to the Curlewis golf course, you have got the bay for walking, wineries,” Mr Westh said.

“That area is a pretty special part of the world and we think we’ll get quite a bit of inquiry well outside Geelong and Victoria for that community.”

The new clubhouse includes a 20m indoor swimming pool.

Residents of the first 80 occupied homes celebrate the opening of the bowling green.

The completion of the clubhouse marks $741m in Stockland investment across the three communities.

Mr Westh said the facility was vital part of the village lifestyle that attracted buyers.

“The clubhouse concept is like an extension of your home, it’s like a huge back garden,” he said.

“A lot of homeowners say it’s great you’ve got a two or three-bedroom house and in your back garden you’ve got a 20m indoor pool and gold class cinema that you don’t need to look after.”

Under Halcyon’s land lease model, homebuyers purchase the house and secure a 99-year lease on the land. They pay about $250 a week to cover costs, which grants access to all facilities.

Stockland project director Lachlan Atkins, left, former deputy mayor Anthony Aitken, and Stockland Halcyon Victoria general manager James Westh turn the first sod on the project.

Residents Kevin and Bridget Cordell were among the first to road test the clubhouse, after recently relocating from Hervey Bay.

“We’re from England originally and it’s like the old style of village living where you have your local pub and local hall and that’s where everyone met every weekend,” Mrs Cordell said.

“It’s the same here now, we just meet friends for bowls or afternoon tea and you don’t have to drive to get to these facilities.”

The Halcyon Horizon open day runs from 10.30am-1.30pm and features a poolside DJ, food carts and sand art.
