Property auctions in Tasmania are usually limited to cash buyers only.
Well they were, until now.
South Property Group is stepping outside the box by offering SJM Property Development’s new waterfront Little Steps charity house to pre-approved finance bidders as well as cash bidders.
When registering to bid, pre-approved bidders must also show a letter from their finance lender. It will be noted by South Property, and these bidders will not be able to exceed their limit.
Principal Nick Cowley believes this has never been done before in Tasmania but could prove to be a new way to sell homes.
“The auction process takes the guesswork out of buying a house and how much to offer, which has always been a difficult and frustrating decision for buyers,” he said.

“For this property, an auction is the best way to sell because the sale will support three great charities — and we want to get as many people bidding as possible.
“We expect it will be popular with first homebuyers and investors.
“In the first week on the market, we registered six bidders, and only one was a cash buyer.
“Then two more finance-approved bidders registered at last weekend’s open home.
“Little Steps is a fantastic property, a prime example of the high-quality work by one of Tasmania’s leading builders, and, with its coastal feel, is a perfect fit for the spectacular waterside location.”
Located at No.59 Spoonbill Loop, Sorell, the house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a master with a walk-in wardrobe.

The living zone is open-plan, highlighted by a kitchen with premium Artusi appliances, a walk-in pantry, Polytec cabinetry, and YDL stone benchtops.
Quality finishes include Scyon Linea and James Hardie Axon cladding, Pulse Hybrid vinyl flooring in Wild Spotted Gum, and Dakala Fontaine Breeze carpet.
Little Steps was made possible by SJM and their partners, who contributed time, funds and materials to the project.
SJM Property Developments director Sam Morse said this project is “close to our hearts”.
“As a Tasmanian builder, we see first-hand the challenges many local families face,” he said.
“Our goal is to give back in a meaningful way by doing what we do best — building homes.
“The name, Little Steps, reflects the idea that small steps can lead to meaningful change.
“It represents a step towards supporting children and families who need it most.
“This project is about bringing people together to make a real difference in our community.”

No.59 Spoonbill Loop, Sorell, will be sold under the hammer by auctioneer and South Property agent Chris Joyce this weekend on March 21 at 1pm.
Inspections will be available prior to the auction from 10am-1pm.
