40 Edmond St, Queens Park has a $2.8m guide for a February 21 auction.

The charming weatherboard cottage owned by the ex-wife of an internationally acclaimed film actor and director has just hit the market.

Rebecca Rigg is the former wife of Simon Baker, most famous for the popular TV show The Mentalist.

Back in the day, Rigg was a star herself, most known for her roles in TV shows Willing and Abel, Rafferty’s Rules and E Street and films such as Jerry Maguire and Fatty Finn.

But the pair, voted Sydney’s sexiest couple in a Sunday Telegraph poll in 2015, split in 2020 after 29 years together and Rigg bought the three-bedroom home at 40 Edmond St, Queens Park for $3.1m two years later.

Rigg bought the cute cottage for $3.1m following her divorce from Baker.

With Rigg based in New York, the property is understood to have mainly been occupied by one of her sons, Harry Friday Baker, 24, and other relatives but it’s now listed with Alexander Phillips of PPD with a $2.8m price guide for a February 21 auction.

No doubt the circa 1910 two-storey three-bedroom residence on a 161sqm block will be popular.

The realestate.com.au ad, which describes it as “a gorgeous freestanding cottage in a tightly held parkside enclave” and “a fresh take on Edwardian charm, says it’s been renovated.

An open-plan kitchen and dining area with polished timber floors and high ceilings flows to an east-facing private deck and tree-framed courtyard.

Full of charm.

Open-plan living areas flow to an east-facing terrace.

And it’s in a great parkside location, just behind Bronte Road’s cafe strip and Charing Cross village.

At around the same time as Rigg bought in Queens Park, Baker, a surfer, paid $6m for a rustic Bondi home set in tropical gardens that had previously been the home of social commentator Ruth Ostrow.

That remains in his name.

The former golden couple had sold their Bronte home for $17m in 2021 as part of their divorce proceedings.
