A rural paradise with water slide, sauna, outdoor bar and a rev head’s dream shed has been snapped up just eight days after hitting the Darwin property market, as demand for acreage properties remains strong.

The 2ha property at 200 McMinns Drive, McMinns Lagoon, was the third most-viewed home in the country last week.

Selling agent Daniel Harris of Real Estate Central said the listing went viral online with the property ranked the top Territory listing on realestate.com.au last week, and the third most viewed nationally.

“It hadn’t even been on the market a full week at that point,” Mr Harris said.

“And the (marketing) video got just shy of half a million views.”

The REC director said the property’s popularity was largely down to its multiple dwellings, incredible shed with hoist and resort-style feel.

“The outdoor living on offer is as good as you’ll ever see,” he said.

“There’s the pool with water slide, the fire pit area and the bar.

“A lot of people said it felt just like a resort.”

The property has six bedrooms and five bathrooms across three independent turnkey dwellings.

The pool is surrounded by tropical gardens and has an impressive water slide, staircase with fairy lights and a rockery water feature.

There is an outdoor entertaining pavilion with bar, a circular fire pit area with built-in seating and a wellness zone with ice bath, sauna room, yoga space and outdoor bathroom.

The massive shed has a hoist, mezzanine, bathroom and built-in storage.

Mr Harris said genuine interest in the property was strong, with the home going under offer in just eight days to a Territory buyer.

“The rural property market has been strong for a long time now,” he said.

“It’s certainly one of the strongest sectors of the local market.”

Mr Harris said it was currently easier to sell a rural home in the $1.3m to $1.7m bracket, than a Palmerston home in the $700,000 to $800,000 bracket.

“That’s largely because there is such strong interest in that rural market from owner-occupiers, while investors are now focusing more heavily on units,” he said.

“Also, a lot of first homebuyers utilising the 5 per cent deposit scheme are sitting on their hands waiting to July 1 when the cap limit changes to $750,000, from $600,000.”

Mr Harris said compared to southern markets, Darwin was still offering buyers good bang for buck and a healthy market.

“We’re seeing buyers who bought what they thought was a stock standard home in places like Brisbane and Sydney, who are selling for good prices and finding they can come to Darwin and live like kings and queens,” he said.
