The draw of unimpeded 180-degree views across Corio Bay to the Geelong city skyline were enough for two bidders to compete for an exclusive harbourside residence.

The four-bedroom home at 28 Lady Nelson Drive, Rippleside, sold under the hammer for $2.65m after the two parties contested the auction.

The public sale ended a drawn out campaign to sell the tri-level townhouse within the Balmoral Quay development in the bayside suburb, which ended when auctioneer David Cortous remarked “welcome to the waterfront”.

McGrath, Geelong agent Jim Cross said the Melbourne family secured the property, having competed against local buyers at the auction which opened at $2m.

The property went to auction with a price range from $2.2m to $2.5m.

It’s the second-most expensive home to sell in Rippleside in 2024, with a four-bedroom, four-storey residence on Balmoral Quay getting $15,000 more in May.
