A seamless transition blurs inside and out.

Mid-century architectural themes and the elements – fire, water, light, and landscape – have inspired this Surf Coast home that emphasises light and bright materials, creating a resort-like property within walking distance of Torquay town centre.

“The process was a collaborative one between Planned Living Architects and ourselves, also known as DBS Homes,” said the vendors Belinda Nepean and Dean Murphy.

“The intent was to unleash some creativity in order to produce our forever home. While showcasing our capability and attention to detail as a builder along the way.”

Set on 2003sq m on a corner block at 19 Boondilla Court, the location was a drawcard for the vendors when they purchased the land.

“This particular block appealed as it enabled us to design the home with a northern aspect where the backyard now enjoys year-round sunlight and shelter. The corner block would also enable us to create two points of entry,” they explained.

White concrete, sandstone, marble, and blackbutt timber are used throughout the home.

Feature lighting is used to great effect.

Construction of the five-bedroom, three-bathroom home took two years.

“The design intent was maintained throughout, but a lot of the internal elevations, finishes and inclusions were specified on the fly as the build evolved and each space came to life,” the vendors said.

“No stone was left unturned, and if there was an opportunity to upgrade or elevate something along the way, we did it.”

Inside the home, a refined material palette embraces organic, tactile textures – white concrete, sandstone, marble, and blackbutt timber – to produce a cohesive result.

There are plenty of opportunities to luxuriate.

Timber, stone and surrounding gardens frame this sunken lounge area.

There are three bathrooms include this in the luxurious main bedroom suite.

“There is blackbutt and sandstone as far as the eye can see, and guests are always tempted to run their hands along the finishes in order to absorb their full effect,” the vendors explained.

Inside the home, a sunken lounge and three distinct fireside areas tie back to the elemental theme, while the considered layout and zoning help separate family, work, play, and entertainment.

“Our family, spanning toddler to teenager, is a testament to the fact that the home really does cater to all ages,” the vendors said.

“The separate guest accommodation lends itself to a teen retreat or facilitating multi-generational living. Younger family members can safely bounce on the trampoline or stretch their legs on the front and rear lawn while contained by secure perimeter fencing.”

The substantial main living area is a north-facing domain with expansive communal zones.

The mid-century influence is on display in the show kitchen.

An outdoor barbecue area and one of three distinct fireside areas offered throughout the home.

Entertainment is also catered for with premium cooking facilities, and a Lift & Slide door system seamlessly connects to the outdoor entertaining and barbecue area, including a woodfire, pool, and pool house.

“The pool house acts as an extension to the crowd or a separate location. From kids’ parties to cocktail parties, having the right space really does simplify things,” the vendors say.

19 Boondilla Court, Torquay, is listed through Shaun O’Callaghan at Natural Real Estate, Torquay, with a $6.5 million guide.
