The renovated 1960s era house at 10 Harvey Ave, Herne Hill, is up for sale.

The 1960s style of an original Herne Hill house has been allowed to shine in the owners renovation.

The three-bedroom residence at 10 Harvey Ave, managed to capture the imagination of potential buyers when it opened to the public over the Australia Day long weekend.

The owners renovation added modern elements to the home and expanded an indoor-outdoor living zone, all while retaining much of the home’s mid century appeal.

Mr Paparazzi to end ‘long term love affair’ with property sale

Blue-ribbon suburb’s shock drop below $1m

A glass sliding door connected the main living room to a north-facing outdoor entertainment area.

Maxwell Collins Geelong agent Laura Vander Noord said the $765,000 to $825,000 price guide for the 615sq m property seemed to hit the mark with potential buyers of the property.

The practical layout with open living zones that extend to substantial outdoor areas features contemporary finishes, quality fixtures and split-system airconditioning the complement the home’s original architecture.

The outdoor spaces include a large north-facing deck designed for entertaining and a separate undercover southern deck offering sheltered dining and a quiet spot for morning coffee.

Striking tiles, stone benches and extensive cabinets combine in the updated kitchen.

The outdoor zone offers bench seating and plenty of space.

Exposing hardwood floorboards throughout the living areas, while replacing an original window with a timber-framed glass sliding doors to connect to a new outdoor deck were among the projects completed in the update since the home last sold in 2017 for $492,500.

Updated rooms include the bathroom and kitchen, where striking tiles combine with extensive cabinetry and benchspace.

Original features includes exposed, low profile bricks and timber beams.

Ms Vander Nord said the renovation has modernised the house without hurting the 1960s vibe.

The updated bathroom presents a contemporary space.

There are three bedrooms with built-in wardrobes.

“They even kept the copper pipe there, which serves no purpose but the just love the look of it,” Ms Vander Noord said.

“People have mentioned they’ve been looking for that style of home. The orientation and the big windows let in so much northern light.

“It was really well received on Saturday. We had six requests for the section 32 and I’m already working with a couple of groups who have put offers on the board.

The garden is serviced by automatic irrigation.

The circa-1965 era house is near Tom McKean Linear Park, Minerva Rd and Vines Rd shopping centres and local schools.
