A business that opened its doors in February this year has scooped up a major award at an annual showcase of Tasmania’s best real estate performers.

The Real Estate Institute of Tasmania, now in its 80th year, has crowned 2025’s high-flyers at a gala event at Ninja Stadium.

This included dozens of awards, including honouring three past REIT presidents with life memberships for their contributions to the industry — Adrian Kelly AM, Michael Walsh and Mandy Welling.

Life memberships are reserved for those who have gone well beyond what is expected, contributing voluntarily and selflessly to the advancement of the profession.

Jake McIntyre, now Melbourne-based, was honoured for his success at the Australasian Auctioneering Championships, becoming the first Tasmania finalist at the event in its 30-year history.

Residential Salesperson of the Year at the Awards for Excellence was Larrisa Brickhill, from Peter Lees Real Estate.

The Rural Salesperson of the Year award was taken home by Nick Bond, Harcourts Huon Valley.

It was in the commercial space where a new business scooped up the top prize when Ray White Commercial Tasmania was named the Agency of the Year in its category.

RWC Tasmania partner Claude Alcorso said they are incredibly proud of their culture and workplace environment.

“To be able to build such a transparent and inclusive culture within our business in such a short time frame is a credit to our staff,” he said.

The business has grown from six to 22 staff members in its first half-year of business, with 57 per cent of the team women — unusual in the commercial sector.

Matthew Wallace, RWC Tasmania managing director, said the business is underpinned by the vision and mission to be a trusted adviser, not just an agent.

“This guides our values and our professional approach to our stakeholders,” he said.

“This has particularly resonated with vendors and landlords, ultimately leading to better results.

“With a diverse range of professional backgrounds within the business, this ‘consultancy’ type approach provides value to our marketplace.”
