131 Koornalla Cres, Mt Eliza, was renovated by jockeys Ben and Jamie Melham, with a view to making the most of its tree-lined vistas.
Horse racing power couple Jamie and Ben Melham have sold the Mt Eliza home they renovated as a side hustle to their illustrious careers on the track.
During last year’s Spring Racing carnival Jamie became the first woman to ever win both the Melbourne Cup and Caulfield Cup, and had previously become the first jockey to win 100 races in a single Melbourne Metropolitan racing season.
Ben also rode in last year’s Melbourne Cup and has collected 22 Group One wins in his career, with 1400 wins overall.

The pair’s renovation of 131 Koornalla Cres was also tackled alongside Jamie’s parents, Winter Olympic speed skaters John Kah and Karen Gardiner-Kah.
The pair’s first attempt at a renovation was completed in the same year they were wed and had a phenomenal run on the track, with industry sources indicating it sold inside of the home’s $1.395m-$1.525m price range.
Multiple living rooms around the home offer light-filled spaces to entertain guests.
The kitchen serves up a green outlook complemented by tiled splashbacks that evoke the nearby coast.
Crowder Real Estate’s Will Crowder handled the sale and said with 60 groups having inspected the property the Melhams clearly had the skills to take their side hustle further if they wanted to.
“We had a lot of buyers inspect it … in that part of the world in that price range, you normally get 25-30 in a good campaign,” Mr Crowder said.
“And the buyers really loved what they had done internally.”
The four-bedroom house has multiple living areas and Jamie fell in love with the home’s treehouse vibe, wishing the block had enough space for her horses.
Renovations included the addition of a bathroom, overhauls to its two existing wet rooms as well as the kitchen.
Their renovation added a bathroom, and overhauled the home’s two existing ones.

Buyer X buyer’s agent Michael Sier helped advise the Melhams and said he wouldn’t be surprised if they had another go at a renovation project.
“It was a reasonably successful venture for them,” Mr Sier said.
However he wasn’t aware of any impending projects.
