“It was originally owned by a developer back in 2002,” said Patrick Cocking, selling agent at Woodgate Beach First National Real Estate.
“He obtained it freehold and he actually got heavy machinery into that section to create three residential cul-de-sacs with about 20 blocks of land. That created the depth of the lake.”

The lake was periodically fed during high tides, Mr Cocking said.
“It doesn't go in and out like a tide which is one of the reasons it’s freehold,” he said. “It's accessed by any tide that's greater than 3.2 meters in height.”
“That feeds the system with food, pushing fingerlings in which keep the big fat barras happy.”

The current owners had landed some absolute monster-sized fish over the years, Mr Cocking said.
“The biggest barra he’s pulled out of there was 1.3 metres,” he said.

“I can safely say there's no crocodiles, sharks or stingers,” Mr Cocking said. “If you wanted to swim in there, go for it.”
