He achieved glory on the football field, and now former Port Adelaide captain and premiership victor Dom Cassisi is hoping for another win when he sells his Tennyson home.
The four-time Fos Williams Medal-winner built the property in late 2023, developing a corner block with his business partner into three luxury houses – one of which he and his family have called home.
“I’ve always loved Tennyson,” Cassisi says.
“That little pocket between the lake and the beach is pretty unique when you look at properties anywhere in Australia.

“Where you can feel the beach behind you and a lake in front of you – there are not too many places like that in the metro area.
“So yeah, I’ve just always just loved it and got the opportunity to buy the land and the rest is history.”
Cassisi said the 41 Military Rd home had been a fantastic place to raise his family.
“It’s brilliant – we’ve loved every second of it,” he says.
“We’ll leave with such great memories of summer – some days we didn’t even put a pair of shoes on, we’d walk out the side gate to the beach 100 meters away, go for a swim, play beach cricket with the kids and other families and then come home and if it was windy that night when we took the dogs for a walk we’d take them for a walk around the lake.

“We’d walk down to Grange to the cafes, walk on the jetty at night, do a bit of fishing with the kids – it was just awesome, it was bloody great.
“It basically felt like we were on holidays all year round.
“It’s like when you go away on a holiday at a beach and you go: ‘Well, what are we doing?’. “You can be spontaneous and it’s fantastic.”
Cassisi says it was important to them when designing and building the property that it befit its incredible location, paying particular attention to the home’s finer details to ensure it offered an extraordinary lifestyle.

“Tennyson’s a quite exclusive suburb, so we wanted to pay respect to the area,” he says.

“We want to build it properly. We’ve got precast concrete, so it’s not a steel frame house that was slapped up in a hurry.
“We dug into the hill, so the basement could be included.
“We wanted the luxury finishes because we knew we were building in a really good area, so we wanted to make sure we had the parquetry flooring and the marble bench tops and stuff like that.
“We also wanted it to be enjoyable to live in, so because it’s a three-storey house and we wanted to make sure that was a functional three-storey house and enjoyable to live in and not a burden we put a lift in, and we also put a turntable out the front so that you could drive out forward-facing onto Military Rd.

“We just wanted to make it feel like you were living in luxury in a coastal area and had all these things that make your living experience more enjoyable.”
The home has four bedrooms, a gym/retreat/home office, open-plan living, an outdoor entertainment area and two balconies and is on the market through Jordan Begley of Toop+Toop Real Estate for $2.25m to $2.45m.
With the family now moving to a new home they have just built in nearby Grange, Cassisi says it will be hard to say goodbye to it.

“To be able to literally walk out your side gate and not see anyone at all and have the beach to yourself in the mornings was great – we just loved every bit of it,” he says.
“It was an awesome place to live.”
