Six years in the making, there is nothing quite like Otago Edge.

Set on 3.4ha of waterside land, this home scooped up a boatload of awards at the 2023 HIA Tasmanian Housing and Kitchen and Bathroom Awards, including Home of the Year.

And now it is on the market seeking a new owner.

Designed by Mike Clever of Clever Design and built by Marcus Delaney from Delaney & Co, the large 448sq m house aimed to blend “luxury with soul”.

Alongside the one-of-a-kind luxe sunken spa pool – seamlessly hidden until a button is pressed and the lid silently retracts – there are personal features like a 1969 motorbike that is not just displayed but built into the home.

A stonemason spent nine months on site, cutting and setting each piece by hand.

The house is also fully automated.

“I wanted to be able to run the entire house from my phone,” said the owner, who requested anonymity.

“The collaboration, and the whole team were exceptional.

“Whenever a challenge arose, it wasn’t a matter of if – it was a matter of how. Everyone can hang their hat on this one.”

Otago Edge is listed for sale with Ant Manton from LJ Hooker Pinnacle Property, who described it as “stunning” and “absolutely amazing”.

“It is the best house I’ve ever seen, it is a statement home,” he said.

Mr Manton is expecting buyer inquiry to be far-reaching.

“While there are potential Tasmanian buyers for this estate, this is the sort of property that will have interstate and even international appeal,” he said.

“It offers privacy and luxury.

“Its sale will set a benchmark.”

If the property reaches its sale price goal, it’ll be among Tasmania’s highest prices for a single dwelling.

Some high sales prices in the multi-millions come with an asterisk.

Cressy’s Lake House sold for over $9m in 2018, but the 1800s mansion is set on 490ha of land.

Howrah Point’s Domi Riviere tipped the scales at $8.533, but included multiple dwellings and multiple waterside blocks of land, and the land was later sold.

Waimea House in Sandy Bay fetched $8.5m in 2011, again, with a second residence included in the price.

Otago Edge will be sold by expressions of interest.
