Oodie creator Davie Fogarty has revealed why he moved to Queensland
The Oodie creator Davie Fogarty built a fortune selling winter — then opted out of it.
The young rich lister, whose viral wearable blanket brand has topped $600 million in sales, left his hometown of Adelaide behind for nearly year-round sunshine in Queensland.
Fogarty, 31, splashed $5m on a spectacular Hamptons-style mansion on the Gold Coast with a lavish alfresco zone and pool overlooking the water.
Set on a 797sq m north-facing block, the four-bedroom home features 3m-high ceilings, a custom wet bar, and bi-fold doors opening to an entertaining terrace with an outdoor kitchen and a private pontoon.

The former Shark Tank Australia judge said he felt limited by the e-commerce culture in Adelaide and wanted to join the Glitter Strip’s thriving scene with business leaders including fitness boss Tobi Pearce and streetwear founder Simon Beard.
“The entrepreneurship within the Gold Coast is huge,” Fogarty said in a YouTube update. “I’m just trying to surround myself with really good people, absorb all of that energy, but more importantly I’m trying to get away from the freezing cold winters.”
Other young entrepreneurs living nearby include Sweat fitness app founder Kayla Itsines, who paid $13m for a dream home in March, and influencer Tammy Hembrow.

Fogarty left behind a stunning 4ha property in the Adelaide Hills purchased for $4.35m in 2023, the same year he sold his former Glenelg South home for $3.8m.
Now, the duo behind Fogarty’s Mermaid Waters sanctuary is hoping to lure another prestige buyer to the booming suburb.
Fogarty’s high-spec, 2021-built home was one of a string of local projects by Shane and Corinne Wynhoven, of Hoven.
The Wynhovens’ latest build at 47 Markeri St has just hit the market with Kollosche’s Gypsea Youngsmith and Taylor Kleinberg, and goes to auction on May 22.

“Mermaid Waters has definitely become a magnet for entrepreneurs wanting to enjoy the best of the Gold Coast from a really well-appointed home base,” Mr Wynhoven said.
“The suburb is attracting buyers seeking out homes that are beautifully designed, extremely well-built, and an aesthetic backdrop that’s also great for business.”
Named Maréa, the double-storey waterfront home has a modern Mediterranean design with five bedrooms, an office, a five-car garage, a heated pool, and a pontoon with direct passage to the main river.

Mr Kleinberg said Mermaid Waters had undergone an “extraordinary” gentrification.
“Older brick and tile homes are making way for architectural designs of the highest calibre, and with it, a new generation of families and couples,” he said.
PropTrack data shows the suburb’s median house price was up 13.7 per cent over the past 12 months to $2,104,000.
