The Brighton block of land being sold by the Hacketts is a short walk from the bay.
Olympic gold medallist and champion swimmer Grant Hackett is the latest Melbourne famous face to cut their property price hopes, lopping $850,000 from a Brighton listing.
Hackett went back-to-back in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics to win the 1500m freestyle event as well as claiming a number of silver medals, won silver and bronze at the Beijing Games in 2008, and also collected 10 World Championship gold medals.
He has since moved into the boardroom and acts as the chief executive of Generation Development Group.

But he and interior designer and dessert chef wife Sharlene have this month cut the asking price for the Brighton block of land they’d once planned to build their dream home on to below the $8.5m they paid for the property in 2024.
After initially putting the 1181sq m allotment on one of the Bayside suburb’s best streets to market with $8m-$8.8m hopes in May, the pair have revised that guide to $7.25m-$7.95m and extended the timeline of a June 9 expressions of interest to June 30.

Set in one of the Bayside ‘burb’s most sought after areas, the bare block is surrounded by dream homes.
They join the likes of Hunters and Collectors guitarist Barry Palmer, ex-Saints coach Grant Thomas and embattled businessman Antony Catalano who have had price cuts to sales hopes this year as Melbourne’s housing market has entered a modest decline that market watchers have noted is hitting multimillion-dollar price brackets harder.
Plans for the Hackett’s Brighton property come with the title, and include a three-storey residence including a basement, indoor lap pool, an outdoor pool, home gym and cinema.
Marshall White listing agent Campbell Butterss declined to comment on the changes, but told the Herald Sun last month that he was confident in a sale with the area’s top end still attracting strong interest — and the Hackett’s site surrounded by “dream homes”.

The Brighton block is also conveniently close to Melbourne’s CBD.
The pair have recently been confirmed as the buyers of a $13.425m Toorak mansion that comes with a self-cleaning pool, a lift between its multiple levels including a basement garage with space for six vehicles, and a climate-controlled wine cellar.
