Sydney 2000 Olympic modern pentathlete and Rio 2016 chef de mission Kitty Chiller has listed her home on North Rd, Brighton, for sale.

Former Olympian and sports administrator Kitty Chiller has put Brighton apartment on the market with a $2.5m-$2.7m range.

On Saturday, Ms Chiller, who competed in the modern pentathlete at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, will be awarded an Australian Olympic Committee life membership in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the Olympic movement and sport.

During her time as an athlete, Ms Chiller won 12 Australian titles and seven World Cup medals in her sport.

Despite fracturing her knee cap in training the day before the Sydney Olympics’ opening ceremony, she competed and placed 14th overall.

Ms Chiller later served as the Australian deputy chef de mission at the London 2012 Olympic Games and as chef de mission at the Rio 2016 games.

She’s currently a strategic adviser to the National Sports Tribunal.

Her voluntary roles include serving on the Australian Olympic committee executive board, as the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne’s vice president and a Gymnastics International Federation executive committee member.

Ms Chiller said she enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, which she has completely renovated since moving in.

Ms Chiller was the top-ranked woman’s modern pentathlete in the world from 1996 to 1998.

Ms Chiller said she loved her three-bedroom home’s North Rd location due to its proximity to the beach, along with Church, Bay and Martin St’s shops and cafes.

“It’s just 100m or so from the water, I walk every day by the water and swim most days as well in the bay,” she said.

Her ground floor apartment, listed with Marshall White’s Ben Vieth, is one of eight residences in a boutique building inspired by iconic US architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s work.

After Ms Chiller purchased her abode about eight years ago, her parents were so impressed by the property that they also bought an apartment within the complex, although they have since sold and moved into supported living.

There’s a bar where guests can serve themselves food during dinner parties.

Ms Chiller’s own apartment, spanning 200sq m, features an open-plan living and dining area, two bedrooms with ensuites and walk-in wardrobes, a second lounge room, courtyard and side garden, plus three basement carparks and a storage room.

Ms Chiller said although home was an apartment, it has house-like proportions thanks to the high ceilings and large rooms.

In addition to renovating the kitchen, she’s installed a bar with fluted glass on the cabinets in the living and dining area, added built-in cabinetry to a bedroom and repaved the courtyard.

There’s two ensuites in the home.

She’s enjoyed updating the garden too, planting a herb and vegetable patch alongside the mature trees.

“It’s my little bit of country in the middle of Brighton,” she said.

Her cherished memories of the home include celebrating her sixtieth birthday with family and friends.

“It will be hard to leave, but I’m spending a lot more time down on the Peninsula now and I’ll just stop needing somewhere as big as this in town,” Ms Chiller added.

Expressions of interest close at midday on May 11.
