Two bidders could see the potential in an 865sq m Highton property where the listing agent sale the old house was beyond saving.
The property at 24 Belle Vue Ave, Highton, sold for $648,500 at Saturday’s auction, Hayeswinckle Highton agent Michelle Winckle said.
Both bidders on the property were builders, Ms Winckle said, keen to get access to the large corner property that’s just 300m from the busy Highton Village shopping centre.

An old stove was among the original features inside the house.
“That’s pretty much land value,” Ms Winckle said.
“You can’t save the house.”
The 1950s era house had been vacant for some time before it was listed for sale, she said.
The house was presented in as-is condition, showing all the wear and tear for its more than 70-year age.
The property had been listed with $600,000 to $650,000 price hopes in a campaign that was targeted at tradies or developers seeking their next project.
Whether the house will ultimately be demolished and replaced with a new home, or a townhouse project is a matter for time.
Both bidders had building experience, agent Michelle Winckle said.
But Highton Village has become a target for developers keen to unlock the potential in the area, which has been designated for increased housing diversity in Geelong’s planning scheme.
Townhouse developments have popped up surrounding Highton Village, with big projects in Taylor Court, Barrabool Rd and Roslyn Rd, and smaller developments in surrounding streets.
The location is walking distance to Bellaire Primary School and Highton Village, and within the Belmont High School zone.
Highton’s $890,000 median house price is unchanged compared to the same time last year.
