Australia’s housing markets may be slowing down as rising interest rates and new tax changes put a handbrake on capital growth, but a number of suburbs across the country are bucking the trend.

Exclusive new data analysis by Reventon and Hotspotting has revealed 365 Australian suburbs attained million dollar medians for the first time over the past 12 months. That’s one a day.

And at least 10 more look primed to break the seven figure ceiling in the near future.

In the 12 months to May 2026, the numbers revealed there were 1600 house or unit markets with a median price of $1 million or more, compared with 1235 in may 2025.

NSW tops the national count, with 717 million-dollar suburbs, followed by Qld with 342 and Victoria with 227. South Australia has 133, WA has 128, the ACT has 47, Tasmania four and the NT two.

NSW also topped the list for new entrants with 132, while Qld (101) was next. WA (45), SA (42), Victoria (29) and the ACT (13) followed.

Reventon CEO Chris Christofi said the data showed there were many markets still performing strongly.

Croydon was a recent Victorian suburb to hit $1 million.

“These figures show that far from slowing down, the number of million-dollar markets continues to rise, with an additional 365 markets added to the list in the past 12 months,” Mr Christofi said.

Hotspotting founder Terry Ryder said there were plenty of opportunities for investors to find

the next markets to tip over into million-dollar locations.

“They are the markets where price growth has been steady in recent years and where demand

remains strong. With that trajectory set to continue, these markets will soon breach the million-dollar barrier,” Mr Ryder said.

The analysis revealed the top 10 suburbs likely to become the nation’s next millionaire postcodes.

Qld had the most, with Baringa set to advance its house median of $940,000 to seven figures in the year ahead, after 14 per cent growth in the previous year; Loganholme (House median of $905,000); Paddington (unit median of $995,000 and Springfield Lakes (house median of $910,000).

Positioned in the middle of a major infrastructure corridor, Loganholme houses jumped 18 per cent to a $905,000 median.

WA had three suburbs on the list in Belmont (house median of $920,000); Joondalup (house median of $960,000); and Secret Harbour (house median of $920,000).

South Australia’s Blair Athol was the only sub $900,000 median on the list, with houses growing 24 per cent in the past year to sit at $870,000; while Victoria’s Botanic Ridge was on the brink with a house median of $972,500.

The sole NSW entry was the unit market at Brighton Le Sands, with a median of $925,000 after 16 per cent growth.

“They are also strong markets for investors, where rents have been rising, yields are solid and

vacancy rates are low.”

Mr Christofi said million-dollar suburbs had proven capital growth potential.

“Locations that have million-dollar medians have already proven to be desirable locations where buyers are prepared to pay top dollar to secure a property,” he said.

Spring Mountain houses are on the brink with a median price of $995,000.

“The locations identified are the next up-and-coming million-dollar hotspots that have more to

offer than just expensive properties. Generally, what is driving the price growth in these locations is significant infrastructure spending either underway or proposed, good amenities such as schools, shops and recreational spaces, transport and access to job nodes.

“Those criteria mean that ongoing demand will lead to further price growth, allowing owners to build their wealth for the future.”
