The lives of countless children and their families will change for the better when a new Adelaide Hills home goes under the hammer.
To be auctioned without a reserve, net proceeds from the sale of The Amelie, at 2 Emerald Way, Mount Barker, will support children’s charity Variety SA.
“I don’t think people can really comprehend the impact this will have,’’ said Variety SA chief executive Mark McGill.
“We’re talking about thousands and thousands of children that will be helped (through the sale of The Amelie).
“It will be life changing … and not just for 2026. This will have an ongoing halo effect that … will change destinies.’’

The proceeds from the home’s sale will go to Variety SA.
In the past year alone, Variety SA has supported more than 50,000 children who are sick, disadvantaged or living with a disability and the need is growing, Mr McGill said.
Among those the charity has helped are children affected by domestic violence, requiring financial support for vital medicine, needing assessment for autism and those whose families are struggling to put food on the table, he said.
The luxury two-storey, four-bedroom home was built by Urban Edge SA and is valued at $750,000.
The land, at the entrance of the Emerald Way estate, is valued at $470,000 and was donated by developer Joe Belperio, in memory of his daughter Amelie, who lost her life at the age of three.
Selling agent Greg Nybo, principal at Century 21 Property People, hoped the sale would raise more than $1m for Variety SA.
No matter the level of bids received, the no-reserve model, which was “unheard of’’ in most property transactions, meant the home would definitely be sold, he said.
With almost two weeks left in the selling campaign, Mr Nybo said three online bidders had already registered for the auction and expected more to register in the final days.

The home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
It also comes with a fancy cubby house in the backyard.
“The no-reserve auction pretty much means the person with the last bid is going to secure the home and who knows where that (final bid) is going to land – it (the home) might just go at an exceptional price,’’ Mr Nybo said.
“If we get a half a dozen people register on the day, that will be a great result.
“It’s a remarkable family home, with all the ‘I want’ and `I need’ requirements.
“Anybody looking to purchase a brand new home in Mount Barker would be most unwise not to come to one of the opens because, you never know, they could get it for a very attractive price.’’
The home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms and is on a 496sqm block.
There are landscaped gardens and a children’s custom playhouse in the backyard, while a year of professional lawn care is included in the sale.
The home will be auctioned on at 8.30am on November 21.
