NRL legend Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin has offloaded his beachside properties in his first year of retirement
NRL legend Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin has offloaded two beachside properties, topping up his retirement nest egg by a hefty $3.46 million in his first year out of broadcasting.
He and wife Kim collected $2.3m from the most recent sale of a villa in exclusive Mermaid Beach, which they had held as a rental property last listed at $1,300 a week.
The couple bought the four-bedroom property with a pool for $830,000 in 2016.
Vautin retired at the end of 2024 aged 65 as one of Australia’s best-loved football commentators.

The former Maroons and Manly forward played 22 games for Queensland between 1982 and 1990, also representing Australia 13 times, and was the face of The Footy Show for more than 20 years until he was dumped in 2017 amid falling ratings.
The Vautins retain a family home on the Gold Coast, while also selling another property in September for $1.16m.

They paid $365,000 in 2013 for that three-bedroom house in Merrimac, undertaking renovations and putting in a pool to up its value.
Coastal agent Guy Powell sold the Mermaid Beach townhouse off market amid strong demand for homes in the blue-chip enclave, where the median house price hit a blistering $3.825m in October, up 12.5 per cent from last year.

“Discover spacious coastal living in this private two-storey villa, quietly positioned at the rear of the block and complete with its own sparkling saltwater pool,” the listing stated.
The property had been updated with new paint, carpet and blinds as the owners prepared to take it to market.
Perks included “low-maintenance gardens and an unbeatable walk-to-everything location in the heart of Nobby Beach”, Mr Powell said.
