Melbourne’s auction market has lost hundreds of sales compared to last winter in the aftermath of the Albanese government’s May budget. Melbourne’s auction market has shed almost 450 winter auctions compared to a year ago and will top the 500 mark this weekend. This weekend PropTrack has recorded just 682 auctions scheduled across the city, down 81 and about 12 per cent from a year ago. Next week, as the final month of the winter property market begins, 590 homes are tipped to test the market — down 23 per cent from the equivalent week in 2025.
