This one-bedroom unit in Reservoir is headed under the hammer to support cancer research at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre.

A loving husband is selling an investment property in Melbourne’s north with plans to donate the proceeds to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, as a tribute to his late wife.

John Agosta has put the one-bedroom unit at 4/115 Rathcown Rd, Reservoir, on the market with a $395,000-$434,500 price guide, to honour the love of his life, Vikki, who died from cancer a decade ago.

The home is listed with Ray White Preston director Mathew Marotta, with the agency offering their services for free along with several other supporters including the REA Group, which is not charging advertising fees.

Ray White Preston’s head of property management, Lisa D’agostino, said that when Mr Agosta’s former tenant moved out of the unit, he decided it was the perfect time to sell in memory of his wife – who had wanted to sell the home to help out a charity.

Mr Agosta fondly recalled the times he spent with Vikki and their three children, including family holidays.

He said Vikki became sick while they built the block of units two decades ago, one of which they retained as an investment.

“I spent 11 years in and out of the Olivia Newton John Cancer Centre and Austin Hospitals,” Mr Agosta said.

“If we can find a cure to save someone’s mum or dad, it is very important – doing what Vicki wanted means a lot to me.”

Mr Marotta said all Australians knew someone who has, or is, going through a battle with cancer.

“The response we have received is a reflection on how this disease impacts everyone – auctions like this are meaningful and we should be doing more of them,” Mr Marotta said.

The unit features a bright and airy open-plan living and dining area, and a sleek kitchen fitted with stainless-steel appliances.

With amenities and public transport just around the corner, the unit not only offers convenience but also a chance for buyers to contribute to a worthwhile cause..
