Respected real estate figure Thomas McGlynn has joined Ray White in a newly created role to strengthen the property giant’s leadership, as the industry faces an “inflection point”.

Mr McGlynn will join Australia's biggest real estate group as their chief executive – performance and value to strengthen their leadership capability and business performance.

He is the president of the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales (REINSW), and recently spent six years as chief executive and partner of the Bresic Whitney group.

Mr McGlynn has experience in sales, property management, auctioneering and strategic leadership, having worked across most Australian markets with a range of national groups and independents in both corporate and operating roles.

Mr McGlynn said the opportunity to help shape the leadership across the most influential real estate network in Australasia was incredibly compelling.

“Over the course of my career, one thing has become clear: leadership is the defining difference between good businesses and great ones,” he said.

“When you lift leadership capability across a network of this scale, the impact goes far beyond one business. It shapes thousands of careers and helps define where the industry goes next.

“Our industry is at an inflection point, and the groups that define the next decade will be those willing to think long term, be courageous and invest deeply in their people.”

Ray White group managing director Dan White said the new chief executive was one of the most respected minds in Australian real estate.

“He thinks deeply about leadership, professional standards and what it takes to build a great business,” he said.

“These things are fundamental to our ambition and value offering to our members.

"He brings a unique set of experiences, unquestionable enthusiasm, and a belief that our best days are well ahead of us.”

Mr McGlynn has spent two decades advocating for higher professional standards in the industry, as well as building and leading real estate organisations.

Earlier this year, Mr McGlynn told The One Conference in Brisbane that the industry needed to focus on integrity and other values.

“We very rarely give awards out for integrity or discipline - but these are the things you need to be obsessed about," Mr McGlynn said at the time.

“There is no silver bullet to success. Skills like discipline, integrity, showing up every single day - they are the things that will determine if you are successful this year.

“Competition in real estate is at an all-time high. Are you adding value to your clients even when they're not thinking about selling? This differentiates the good real estate agents from the really good real estate agents."

Mr McGlynn was appointed as REINSW president in late 2024, having served as a board director since 2020.
