Malibu Parcel Where Gigi and Bella Hadid’s Childhood Home Once Stood Sells for $6.5 Million—After Mansion Was Destroyed by Wildfires

A Malibu parcel that was once home to a stunning estate where supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid spend their childhoods has been sold for the sky-high sum of $6.5 million, just over one year after the dwelling was destroyed by the California wildfires.

The dwelling, which was sold by Gigi and Bella's mother, Yolanda Hadid, and her former spouse, music mogul David Foster, in 2015, had been on the market for the sky-high sum of $34.99 million when the wildfires broke out in January 2025 and razed the once-opulent mansion to the ground.

Four months after the wildfires were contained, the property was relisted with Daniel Milstein and Aaron Kirman of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California, this time as a vacant 3.25-acre parcel that was touted as an opportunity to "rebuild a Malibu masterpiece."

Now, that opportunity has been seized by a buyer who paid $6.5 million for the plum plot, which overlooks the ocean and offers exceptional views of the surrounding area.

While the buyer—whose identity is not yet known—did not pay anywhere near the initial asking price of $16 million, which the property was listed with in May 2025, the $6.5 million sum they did fork over represents Malibu's most expensive land sale since the fires broke out.

The sale of the home came complete with renderings from Bowery Designs, which envisioned a luxe property with a home theater, a spa, a gym, a game room, and 4,000 square feet of outdoor space, which boasted three pools, a bocce court, and a full sports court.

That rendered mansion spans 14,000 square feet and includes six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and three half bathrooms—as well as a "seamless indoor-outdoor flow" amplified by soaring 14-foot ceilings.

Speaking to TMZ, which first reported the news of the sale, Milstein noted that he and Kirman were "proud" to have sold the land and to have set a record in the process, proving that buyers are still willing to pay top dollar for properties in the area, even as it continues its recovery from the devastating fires.

He added that he hopes the sale demonstrates the resilience of Malibu and of the greater Los Angeles area, setting the tone for future growth.

The 2025 wildfires, which broke out on Jan. 7, 2025, destroyed thousands of homes across L.A. and claimed the lives of 31 people, according to official records.

One year after the blazes, Realtor.com research also laid bare the lasting toll that the wildfires had taken on the Los Angeles housing market, revealing that the total value of destroyed homes in the fire zones of Pacific Palisades and Altadena fell from $14.7 billion to $10.8 billion and from $7 billion to $4.7 billion, respectively, between late 2024 and the second half of 2025.

Homes damaged by the fires but not completely ravaged saw their total value decline from $2.2 billion to $1.9 billion in Pacific Palisades and from $825 million to $658 million in Altadena.

Dozens of celebrities lost their homes in the fires, including Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Anna Faris, Paris HiltonJeff Bridges, and John Goodman.

Fashion star Bella, 29, who spent many of her childhood years living in the Malibu dwelling, took to Instagram at the time to express her sadness at watching her childhood home burn down.

"Childhood bedroom," she captioned an image of the property going up in flames.

Yolanda, 62, and David, 76, who divorced in 2017, purchased the Malibu dwelling for $4.5 million in 2007 and it regularly featured in "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," which the mother of three starred in between 2012 and 2016.

The couple are understood to have carried out a number of renovations to the property during their ownership, before selling it for the sky-high price of $19.5 million in 2015, two years before their divorce was finalized.

Before the wildfires, a listing for the property had described the six-bedroom, 11-bathroom abode as a "distinguished promontory estate [that] offers world class living by epitomizing luxury and serenity in every corner."

"Sitting on 3.25 acres of privacy yet minutes away from arguably the best location in all of Malibu, this estate embodies perfection to the finest degree with views from every direction," the description continued.

It's unclear exactly who owned the property when it was lost to the fires, which were finally contained at the start of February 2025.

The two largest blazes—the Palisades fire and the Eaton fire—ripped through entire communities, razing hundreds of properties, many of which remain nothing more than empty lots.

Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena were all heavily impacted by the blazes, which erased an estimated $8.3 billion in home value from these areas, according to a data analysis by Realtor.com.

By the time the wildfires broke out, Yolanda had long since relocated out of California, moving to a stunning farmhouse in Pennsylvania, which she listed for just under $11 million in September 2025, before taking it off the market in January of this year.

It's understood that the delisting is temporary and the property is expected to go back on the market, although it is unclear when. Hadid does appear to have spent time at the home over the holiday season, with videos posted to her Instagram featuring the sprawling farmhouse prominently, as well as several of the animals that are still housed there.
