The Lake Wingra Loop
Another classic Madison bike route, the 6.5 mile Lake Wingra Loop offers a beautiful stretch through the UW Arboretum and the Monroe Street Corridor on Madison's near west side. Popular stops along the way include Vilas Park and Zoo, Wingra Park, Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, and a bite to eat along Monroe Street.
Lakeshore Path
This beautiful path meanders along the southern shores of Lake Mendota from the Memorial Union Terrace all the way to Picnic Point and beyond. Much of this route is relatively flat, making this an accessible ride for people of all ages.
Southwest Commuter Path
The Southwest Commuter Path traverses the city's near west side and ends at Brittingham Park near the center of the city. Many locals actually do use the path for their daily commute, biking to work at the UW Campus or in Downtown Madison.
The City of Fitchburg -- Choose your Adventure
Fitchburg is a bicycle-friendly community with convenient access to many different trails, including some excellent mountain-biking trails. Popular options include the Badger State Trail, the Capital City State Trail, the Cannonball Loop -- and the Quarry Ridge Recreation Area for mountain biking.
The Military Ridge State Trail
