Luxury villas set the scene in Paradise Point

Marcus and Simone Rankin spent two years planning and building luxury villas at Paradise Point.

Gold Coast husband and wife development team Marcus and Simone Rankin are changing the property scene on the northern Gold Coast.

Keen to distance themselves from the “standard” Gold Coast coastal aesthetic, the couple has completed 12 homes in the city over the past 10 years while pushing design boundaries with each build.

The villas are in Paradise Point.

“We started off renovating and selling Gold Coast waterfront properties while we both had full time jobs,” Mrs Rankin said.

“Marcus was a builder for clients at the time.

“After completing six successful renovate and sell projects, we made the decision to focus on our own projects full time and move into new construction.”

“We are passionate about creating beautiful and functional homes with an unrivalled level of quality and a unique point of difference to the standard Gold Coast coastal aesthetic.”

Their latest project is two designer villas on Milton Ave, Paradise Point.

Known as Elysian and Arcadia, the luxury three-level homes each include five bedrooms and three living areas with outdoor kitchens, electric fireplaces, media rooms and pools.

Elysian recently sold for $2.3m, while Arcadia is under contract.

The couple spent almost two years planning and building the villas but say quality was more important than a time frame.

“Throughout all our years of building right now is by far the hardest time to build a house,” Mrs Rankin said.

“Our build times have almost doubled from what they were three years ago, material supply has almost gone back to normal however trades are still extremely busy with prices still increasing.

“Marcus is on site every day to ensure the quality of the builds is at the highest of standards.

“We would rather wait for our trades to be available to know the job will be done correctly rather than keep to a tight schedule, quality is more important to us than the time frame.”

They said the villas suit a range of buyers from a downsizer to a family.

“Elysian would appeal to a buyer who doesn’t want to compromise on space, amenity, design and quality yet prefers a low maintenance lifestyle,” Mrs Rankin said.

“We love that the third level has allowed the inclusion of so many features that aren’t usually seen in a duplex such as large void spaces, an expansive master bedroom with an extremely large walk in robe.

“The joinery throughout the home is stunning, we love the darker palette softened by the curves, super white stone and brass hardware.”

The couple believes Paradise Point is undervalued compared to other coastal suburbs on the Gold Coast

“We could see the potential for huge growth in the area and over the last few years site prices have almost doubled,” Mrs Rankin said.

“Paradise Point will continue to see more developers shift to the area as southern development sites become unattainable and too expensive to retain a profit.”

Edin Kara of Ray White Mian Group is marketing Arcadia after he sold Elysian last month.

“The record is well deserved as this style and quality wasn’t seen in Paradise Point previously,” he said.
