14 Biggs Place, Southport is set to go under the hammer.

A chic waterfront home has set a new benchmark for family living in Southport with its effortless blend of coastal luxury and traditional style.

Constructed only four years ago, the showstopping six-bedroom home is located at 14 Biggs Place on an expansive 1200sq m corner block with 60m of water frontage.

Rebecca Beeton is the visionary behind the property’s magazine-worth design after she and her husband purchased the land about six years ago.

“We loved the fact it was a corner block, surrounded by water that is so close to Main River,” Ms Beeton said.

“It’s also a big block on a quiet cul-de-sac, opposite a rugby league field.”

The Qld property for sale that I would rather keep a secret

Initially the Beetons considered renovating the 1980s home on the site, but ultimately decided it had to be demolished to make way for a dream home that would combine family functionality with effortless coastal luxury.

Set back from the water, the home spans two storeys and includes formal and informal living areas along with a games room, three-car garage and two covered entertaining terraces

overlooking the water.

“One terrace has a built-in barbecue and we’ve had lots of Christmas parties there along with family lunches most weekends,” Ms Beeton said.

“From there you can look out over the water and enjoy glimpses of Surfers Paradise and the sun setting over the trees.”

Beyond the house, manicured lawns slope gently down to a sandy beach and the waterfront, while the property also boasts a jetty, pontoon, and boat shed, along with firepit, swimming pool and putting green.

“We tried to create spaces for everybody, each with their own feeling,” Ms Beeton said.

“So you can be in the pool, by the firepit, on the putting green or playing basketball in the driveway, but then you can retreat upstairs and it’s a quiet place to sleep.”

The house has 60m of water frontage.

The home was designed by Bayden Goddard and won an award for its construction, but has been further brought to life through the meticulous selection of handcrafted items and recycled materials.

Each of the timber pillars used in the outdoor entertaining patios was individually selected and aged in a paddock, while the fireplace is constructed of hand carved sandstone and features a mantelpiece of 300-year-old timber sourced from a barn in Austria.

The house is just off the main river.

Meanwhile the firepit overlooking the water is built from century-old bricks that once graced century-old houses in Sydney, and a feature light in the living room is crafted of beads that were handmade in Africa.

“Each adds a touch of history, and we wanted it to be a house that you could touch and feel,” Ms Beeton said.

“We also have four boys, so we needed it to be a place that doesn’t have to be perfect and pristine.”

As for her favourite space, Ms Beeton said she enjoyed nothing more than looking out over the water from the kitchen.

“I love that you can be in the kitchen yet you’re less than 10m from the water, watching the stingrays and occasional dolphins,” she said.

After four years enjoying her waterfront home, Ms Beeton said the time had come for a new project, but she would cherish the memories of the family home they had created.

“It’s the house everyone comes to,” she said. “We have kids coming on their tinnies or paddle boarding and playing by the pool.

“I just hope the next people who live here love it as much as we do.”

The property is listed with Robbie Graham of Ray White Prestige, and will go to auction on December 7.
