Evandale heritage property Lorinna has found a new owner.

Dating back to the 1850s, the property is rich in history and has been sympathetically restored.

It displays a balance of traditional and charming historical elements, while also embodying modern sensibilities.

Lorinna is undoubtedly one of Evandale’s most beautiful family homes, said heritage property expert Dominic Romeo of Dominic Romeo Historic Property.

“Its location is exceptional and the 2000sq m garden creates a quiet sanctuary,” Mr Romeo said.

“The house was extended under the guidance of the vendor, Ros Palmer, one of Sydney’s interior experts.

“Ros created some spectacular internal rooms in the English Country style.

“She has called Lorinna home for 12 years and is now off to the next exciting project.”

When Tasmania’s 1800s-built properties reach the open market, there is no shortage of interest. And this was the case at No.21 Macquarie St, Evandale.

Mr Romeo said this included a good level of local interest in this property.

“However, the majority of inquiries and inspections came from interstate buyers who are relocating to Tasmania,” he said.

“The property’s proximity to the airport and Launceston was attractive to this buyer demographic.

“Lorinna’s purchaser is from Sydney. He has always lived in Sydney and decided to move to another state, choosing Tasmania as the state that ticks his wish list.

“He is a heritage and garden enthusiast, and his reliance on the airport, a historic town with a good sense of community and the city of Launceston was a deciding factor.

“Lorinna and Evandale provided all he was looking for.”

Mr Romeo said the heritage property market in Tasmania has been resilient over the past six months.

“Although the wider market has softened due to local economic and international uncertainty, the heritage market has been good,” he said.

“I am still receiving 20 to 30 inquiries per week from buyers ready to buy or potential buyers conducting their due diligence with a view to buying a heritage property.

“This is a very particular and niche market, and often there is a good deal of groundwork to do before a purchaser buys. For example, required restoration works, heritage policies to understand, maintenance costs and the location of choice need to be favourable.

“Overall, the heritage property market has performed well over the past three to six months with some good sales across Tasmania and some nice heritage property coming onto the market in the near future.”
