It’s the multimillion-dollar property move that’s got Australia talking, but behind the Hewitts’ decision to offload their sprawling Sydney mansion lies a far more personal truth: a family making extraordinary sacrifices that will see Lleyton and Bec living increasingly separate lives for the sake of their children’s global ambitions.
The tennis legend and his TV star wife are waving goodbye to their palatial Glenhaven estate, a property they snapped up for $10.3 million in 2023, now hitting the market with a hefty $14 million-plus price tag.

The driving force? Their three children are forging impressive career paths, and eldest son Cruz, 17, is making serious inroads on the international tennis circuit.
This means Lleyton, 45, is set to dedicate even more time to coaching and supporting his son overseas, potentially for months on end.

“They are totally devoted parents and would do anything for their kids, even if it means they need to spend months apart,” a close family friend told Woman’s Day, adding their huge Glenhaven estate no longer suited their needs.
“Lleyton will be spending weeks, if not months overseas, to help coach and support Cruz on the tennis circuit. He’s 17 and needs his dad by his side.
“Lleyton knows how important it is to have that support. He had his parents with him at the same age, and then after he married Bec, she gave it all up to follow him around the world.”
While their unconventional choices to live apart as a family often attract criticism – and undoubtedly place a strain on their marriage – both Bec and Lleyton understand this is a crucial time for Cruz.

They’re willing to make any sacrifice to give him the best opportunity to succeed, even discussing setting up a permanent base overseas, with Florida or the Bahamas once again being considered.
Lleyton famously relocated the family to Nassau in 2009 to cut down on gruelling long-haul flights during his own playing career.
“If Cruz is going to make it, he will be spending up to 10 months of the year overseas, and Bec knows how hard it is to live out of a suitcase. She hates the thought of him suffering loneliness on the circuit,” the friend added.
“Bec understands that if they buy a place overseas where Lleyton and Cruz can live most of the time, it will provide a secure base and allow Lleyton to guide his career and continue to coach him.”

Meanwhile, Bec, who turns 43 in a few weeks, has reconciled herself to extended periods apart from Lleyton.
Her focus remains firmly on Mia and Ava, who are carving out their own careers, meaning the couple are now looking for a base closer to the Sydney CBD.
Mia, 20, is not only a model but also the lead singer in folk band Father’s Favourite.
She even sparked engagement rumours earlier this year after posting an image with a sparkler on her ring finger, alongside her rocker boyfriend of two years, Liquid Zoo frontman Vanda Erich.
Her younger sister, Ava, who turns 16 in October, also looks set to fly the coop sooner rather than later.
The Gold Coast home the couple sold for $4.9m in January 2025.
She’s already made a name for herself as a Nick News host on Nickelodeon and a professional dancer.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Ava headed to LA in the next few years to study dance and acting and hit the audition circuit – it’s something her mum always dreamt of, and she doesn’t want anything to hold Ava back from following her own dreams,” the family friend concluded.
Late last year, newly inducted tennis hall of famer Lleyton Hewitt paid tribute to his wife Bec for holding their young family unit together as they ‘travelled the world’ in a life of musical houses.

“Bec’s travelled the world with us and it’s a grind, and especially with three young kids, we’ve had to move base and set up overseas. And she’s done everything with grace and elegance,” Hewitt told those gathered for the Sport Australia Hall of Fame Induction and Awards.
“You’ve been the rock the whole time supporting me, and I certainly wouldn’t have been able to continue my career and be able to play 20 Australian Opens without you. So I’m eternally grateful and I love you so much. Thank you.”
He’s not kidding about having multiple homes along the way either.

The family has been based across three states in Australia since the pandemic alone – the Gold Coast in Queensland, Melbourne in Victoria and Sydney’s eastern suburbs in New South Wales – let alone the homes they’ve lived in across the world including Nassau in the Bahamas.
Their most recent real estate deal was the sale of a luxury beach house that they’d bought to be closer to their son Cruz’s training program at KDV Tennis Academy on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
