A Gemmells home has been given a breathtaking transformation and offers an enviable Hills lifestyle that’s ready to be enjoyed for both young and old for generations to come.
Rick and Polly Penney bought their 55a Stirlings Hill Rd home in 2018, attracted by its picturesque position and the opportunity to give it a renovation to both sympathetically complement the original 1849 construction and bring it into the current era.

“My wife has an incredible eye for style and interior design and she was able to walk into this house and see past some of the bright colours that were there, and see we could create something really beautiful and special,” Mr Penney says.

It sits halfway between Mount Barker and Strathalbyn and is minutes from Macclesfield and just 30 minutes from the Tollgate – something the Penneys friends can’t believe.
“People don’t realise just how close to the city we are and they are blown away by this beautiful lifestyle we have,” Mr Penney says.
“With places like this, you’re a custodian rather than an owner.”
The property is on the market through Sam Oborn and Elle Gosling of Harcourts Adelaide Hills.
