The Elan development in Kiama offers 19 apartments with impressive coastal views.

A penthouse with a balcony plunge pool in a new development that dramatically lifts local design standards has smashed the apartment record in a NSW coastal town.

The 468sqm three-bedroom residence plus study in the Elan development in the South Coast town of Kiama has sold off-the-plan for $6m.

The previous apartment record was $4.4m for a four-bedroom unit on the other side of the beach last March, though pending sales in the exclusive Elan, by developer-builder Level 33 designed by award-winning PBD Architects, are also expected to surpass that.

Prices of the remaining apartments range between $3.1m and $4.5m.

The Elan will be complete late next year.

“Prices in the building are in the $3.1m to $4.5m range,” said Andy Wharton, of First National Coast & Country Real Estate, who made the penthouse sale.to a local couple.

“The Elan sets a very high stand quality finish, and these buyers are the type that really notice that.

“They’re well travelled, have owned and lived in various parts of the world, and they saw the value.

“The Elan gives a different perspective — it’s not just a good finish, the penthouse size is amazing too — 468sqm, which includes the three balconies.”

Wharton said he had 16 apartments left to sell in the 19-unit block. All have three bedrooms.

Elan, complete late next year, is perched on one of the highest points in Kiama and has sweeping, uninterrupted ocean views.

The penthouse, which had three bathrooms and three car spots.

Each of the bedrooms has its own ensuite and there’s also a powder room, butlers pantry, walk-in laundry, built-in bar and fireplace.

It lifts apartment design standards in the town.

The designer kitchen comes with Gaggenau appliances.

The kitchen has a Taj Mahal-stone island benchtop, wine fridge and premium Gaggenau appliances.

A defining feature of the residence is its expansive outdoor living, including three separate

balconies, one of which is exceptionally large and features the private plunge pool.

The purchasers, a couple who have lived in Kiama for the past 10 years, who wished to

remain anonymous, said they were “downsizing with elegance”.

“We actually saw the advertising of Elan and saw where they were building, walking past it.

“We ran into the agent in town and we went and met with him.

“It had to be ocean front.

“We currently live in a large coastal home which takes in ocean and mountain views which we haven’t decided what we’ll do with just yet.”

The development is positioned on a quiet street in the heart of Kiama, close by Surf Beach.

The penthouse has three luxurious bathrooms and also a powder room.

Reflecting on what she loves about Kiama, she said: “The magnificent views, the sense of community, and the people here make Kiama truly special.”

The couple, who own a grain-feed business in the Riverina, are looking forward to entertaining and enjoying their stunning new home with friends and family including their grandchildren.

“It’s large enough to fit all of us,” she said.

Level 33 founding managing director Eddy Haddad said: “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created.

“From day one, the focus has been on delivering a building with exceptional design, quality finishes and homes that people genuinely want to live in.”
