Jeremy Bond, grandson of the late businessman Alan Bond, has sold his Woollahra mansion at auction via TRG founder Gavin Rubinstein.
The five-bedroom Tamsin Johnson-designed residence, with Myles Baldwin-designed gardens and pool, in exclusive Wallaroy Rd fetched $14m, sources advise.
Rubinstein wasn’t available to discuss the result — it’s his birthday today, he’s 35 — but it’s understood auctioneer Damien Cooley had two bidders at Wednesday evening’s auction.
Initially no price guide was offered, but Rubinstein was telling buyers before the auction the guide was $13m.

Records show the property last traded for $6.77m in 2017 when Bond, who is married to Olivia Bond, bought the home off-market from Angus Taylor, now the Shadow Treasurer.
The Bonds are now moving to Carmel, the Mediterranean-style mansion on Albert St, Edgecliff, bought via Rubinstein for $28m in September.
Rubinstein had launched Carmel, designed in 1935 by renowned architect F. Glynn Gilling for prominent stockbroker Stanley Utz, to market in April.
Carmel was listed by owner Deborah Hopper, wife of renowned biotech entrepreneur Paul Hopper.
Their former home in Wallaroy Rd, Wollahra offered a prized north-easterly aspect and traditional formal and informal living and dining areas.
The couple are now heading to something bigger and grander.
They bought the Edgecliff mansion Carmel for $28m in September through Rubinstein.
Carmel was designed in 1935 by renowned architect F. Glynn Gilling.
It showcases traditional c1920s architecture with high ornate ceilings, beautiful leadlights, and black and white checkerboard marble and timber floors.
There’s a chef’s kitchen with a premium La Cornue oven and gas cooktop, while French doors open to a light-filled atrium spilling to a picturesque vine-covered sandstone entertainers’ courtyard.
The master suite has a Travertine ensuite. There’s even a separate studio with a sauna and ice bath.
The Bonds had previously owned in Holdsworth St, Paddington, which sold for $4.3m in 2017.
Jeremy Bond, 43, would have been just a year old when his late grandfather, Alan, was the chief funder and part of the syndicate that won America’s Cup in 1983 with the yacht Australia II, ending the US’s 132-year-old winning streak.
Then PM, the late Bob Hawke, had famously said: “Any boss who sacks anyone for not turning up today is a bum.”
