Shocked by his win, the Sydney-based entrepreneur put the Gold Coast Hinterland pile up for rent while he considered his options, listed in May 2025 at $800 above today’s median weekly cost for a four-bedroom rental home.
The owner is now ready to make bank, but putting the property up for sale meant breaking the sad news to his tenants.
Avenue Real Estate selling agent Nathan Simon said the occupants had become very attached to the resort-style home.

“The owner was based interstate and didn’t want to make a rash choice on what to do with the home, so he quickly rented it out,” Mr Simon said.
“We’ve been talking about selling for a while, but we had to wait for the tenants to leave. “They weren’t happy about it, they loved living there, but we made sure to give them four or five months’ notice to ease the transition.”
It’s easy to see why the tenants were heartbroken to hand back the keys. The property is the ultimate entertainer’s retreat complete with some unique perks for movie buffs.

“It was already a very high-spec property when we sold it to the lottery foundation,” he said.
“They held it for an extended period and really elevated it. They added the pool, the carport, and the shed, and did a beautiful internal spruce-up with fresh paint before the giveaway.”
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home on a 4,119 sqm parcel is described in the sales listing as an “exceptional residence [that] delivers a rare balance of refined luxury and relaxed family living”.

Mr Simon said early interest in the property has been strong.
“While general market enquiries are a little slower than normal at the moment, we showed six buyer groups through on the weekend, and we’ve already had some of those parties come back.”
PropTrack data shows median house prices in Tamborine were up 8 per cent over the past month to $1.42m.
