AFL Sun player Mac Andrew and his former Gold Coast home, which the owners are now taking to auction
The ultimate Gold Coast trophy home with a $12 million sporting secret has just hit the market.
Long before Suns sensation Mac Andrew inked the richest contract in AFL history, he was a 202cm teenager finding his feet in this spectacular five-bedroom Broadbeach Waters mansion.
Now, the waterfront pad at 52 Clear Island Road where the Egyptian-born powerhouse launched his career is heading to auction.
Owned by host couple Karen and Steven Ackland, who paid $1.43m for the property in 2004, the three-level north-facing showpiece has been a sanctuary for six emerging Suns players over the years.

But none have proved bigger — or richer — than Andrew. Drafted in 2021, the 22-year-old Melbourne-raised defender is one of the sport’s most bankable superstars, recently locking in a historic nine-year deal potentially worth $12m.
The 72-game veteran returned to feature in the property’s marketing video, spilling on what really went on behind closed doors.
“I’m not sure how much [the owners] know but there were definitely a few drinks with the boys here,” Andrew said.
“They were always so welcoming of all our teammates and we often had barbecues overlooking the canal.
“It was handy having the pool here to do a bit of recovery after games, and on a hot day, it was great to relax on the deck.”

It is set on a point-position block with skyline views
Set on a 559sqm point-position block with uninterrupted views of the Surfers Paradise skyline, the five-bedroom, three-bathroom home has a designer Miele kitchen, multiple entertaining zones, and an epic six-car basement with rare drive-through boat access directly to the water.
But the ultimate flex for sports fanatics is a state-of-the-art soundproof home cinema decked out in prized Suns memorabilia, where Andrew would regularly kick back to watch his second-favourite sport, basketball.
The sale also comes with a unique piece of sports history thrown in to sweeten the deal for the winning bidder.

“The house has been a major part of my life on the Gold Coast for the past four or five years so it’s sad to see it go, but it’s just time,” Andrew said.
“If the buyer is a Suns fan, let me know and we’ll get you a guernsey to hang up.”
Ray White Malan + Co agent Tayla Moody, who is taking the property to auction on May 29, said the home was a once-in-a-generation offering.
“It’s a blue chip home in its own right but if a buyer is a Suns or AFL fan, then perhaps that’s another selling point for them,” Ms Moody said.
“This substantial family home has been the backdrop to not only the vendors’ own family life, but also to the early journeys of several emerging Suns players, including Mac.”
PropTrack data shows house prices in Broadbeach Waters were up 10.3 per cent to $2.591m.
