Inside Melbourne’s ultimate $5.5m luxury bush hideaway

More than two hectares of pasture and landscaped grounds, together with the architecturally designed home on the property, create a luxurious family sanctuary at Warrandyte.

The development of the property known as ‘Husseys Lane’ has been a long-term passion, dedication, and love for the vendors, Dale and Evette Anderson.

“We stood on this property 21 years ago and saw something that others may not have seen,” Evette says.

“We were searching for a place where we could leave suburban living behind, while still having access to the city and excellent schools for our family.”

This vision called for the vendors to revamp the entire property from top to bottom.

“The property and home in its original state were very rustic and largely untouched,” she says.

“The dams, fencing, shedding and grazing paddocks that exist today were all part of a long-term vision and redevelopment that began well before the home was built,” Evette explains.

The gas-heated infinity pool and spa frame a private guesthouse at the $5.5m Warrandyte estate.

Spanning more than two hectares, the custom property features elite equestrian infrastructure including six fenced paddocks.

The development of the property known as ‘Husseys Lane’ has been a long-term passion, dedication, and love for the vendors.

Now, the property suits equestrian enthusiasts or hobby farmers with six large paddocks, electric fencing, and an extra-large stable.

For those who love spending time in nature and entertaining outdoors, there are amenities to cater for that, including a paved outdoor entertainment area with a built-in kitchen, an outdoor fireplace, established gardens, and a gas-heated infinity pool and spa.

“The property enjoys a prized northerly aspect and offers a variety of indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces designed for both family living and larger gatherings,” says Evette.

“An espaliered lime tree covering the north-facing shed wall has become a real feature of the landscape, while the paddocks, dams and open spaces create a wonderful sense of connection to the surrounding environment.”

There is also a private guest accommodation in the self-contained pool house with kitchenette and wine fridge.

Soaring curved ceilings designed by architect Tony Rowe maximise light across the open-plan family living zones.

From its hydronic and underfloor heating and gourmet kitchen to a wet bar with kegged beer on tap, the vendors say it’s the sense of openness that they “never take for granted.”

The home itself was architecturally designed by Tony Rowe, with whom the vendors worked closely.

“We wanted to create a home that would sit gently within the landscape and be respectful of its natural surroundings. From the outset, the vision was to design a home that felt connected to the environment rather than imposed upon it,” says Evette.

While there is much to admire about the home’s features, from its hydronic and underfloor heating and gourmet kitchen to a wet bar with kegged beer on tap, the vendors say it’s the sense of openness that they “never take for granted.”

“The soaring curved ceilings create incredible volume throughout the home, while the privacy and peacefulness make it feel like a true retreat,” Evette says.

“One of our favourite features is that every window frames a different view of nature. It often feels as though you’re living among a series of ever-changing landscape paintings.”

100-110 Husseys Lane, Warrandyte is for sale through Jellis Craig Doncaster agent Chris Savvides. It has a price guide of $5m-$5.5m.
