Tate Donovan’s life now after vanishing from the spotlight.
The O.C. star Tate Donovan has given fans a glimpse on what his life away from Hollywood looks like.
Tate Donovan’s rise to fame began early through his teenage years, including appearances in SpaceCamp (1986) and his first starring role in Love Potion No. 9 (1992) alongside Sandra Bullock.
Yet, it wasn’t until his role as Jimmy Cooper in The O.C that really solidified him as a household name.
Donovan was also briefly engaged to Friends star Jennifer Aniston briefly, after dating for two years with their relationship ending in 1998.
Born in New Jersey, he recently stepped back into the spotlight, debuting his latest on-screen project, an Amazon Prime thriller called Crime 101, in which he stars alongside big names including Aussie Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry, and Barry Keoghan.
Behind the scenes, he has been making property moves, showing a glimpse into his private life off set.

Inside celebrity multimillion-dollar break-ups
The O.C star officially sold his “extraordinary” Texas dwelling – just two months after bringing the property to the market for $2.65 million (US$1.9 million).
Donovan, 62, his wife, Corry Scheuerman, initially listed his longtime Austin, TX, abode in March 2026, having purchased the picturesque four-bedroom retreat in January 2016.
Before being snapped up by the spouses, who wed in 2015, the home – which is located in The Hill Country – had been on the market for just $956,000 (US$685,000), having initially been listed for $1.185 million (US$849,000) in January 2015.
Now, after two significant price cuts which eventually lowered the ask to $2.16 million (US$1.55 million) in April, property records show that the sale of the 1.32-acre estate has closed. However, because Texas is a nondisclosure state, the final price has not been publicly revealed.
The dwelling is located on a lush 1.32-acre tree-lined plot, with the natural foliage that surrounds the home helping to add an extra layer of privacy, creating an oasis-like environment in the backyard.

Designed to exude a feeling of “understated luxury,” the well-appointed abode was built and decorated with only the most high-caliber materials, starting with its limestone facade, which blends beautifully with the greenery that surrounds it.
“From the moment you arrive, the home’s timeless Texas limestone facade, rich wood beams, and refined architectural detailing create an unmistakeable sense of understated luxury,” the listing — which was held by Courtney Oldham of Compass – stated.
The layout of the home is meant to further amplify its stunning surroundings, with an open floor plan and enormous windows helping to fill the dwelling with light, while turning the grounds into a kind of living artwork that creates a beautiful backdrop in every room.
“Expansive living with high ceilings and beautiful coffered wood accents, allowing natural light to pour through windows that frame views of the surrounding landscape and patio spaces,” the listing continues.
The main floor of the home, which spans more than 3,600 square feet, features multiple living spaces, including an elegant living room, complete with a marble fireplace, as well as a chef’s kitchen with a sizeable centre island, ideal for gathering loved ones together.

The kitchen is complemented by a breakfast alcove that is nestled into a windowed nook overlooking the back porch and the swimming pool. For more formal occasions, there is a dining room located just off the living room.
To maximise privacy, the primary suite, which includes a beautiful bathroom with its own enormous soaking tub, is located in its own “quiet wing” of the dwelling, along with a private office.
The other three bedrooms are all located in an additional wing that also houses many of the home’s “generous entertaining ideas.” That wing is also home to two full bathrooms, ideal for guests.
However, the listing added that it is the outdoor offerings that truly make the property sing, beginning with its plum location near a local creek and woodland, which afford the dwelling incredible privacy from prying eyes — a must-have for any celebrity homeowner.
“Backing to the natural beauty of woods and a creek, the property enjoys exceptional privacy and a sense of peaceful seclusion,” the description continued.
During the time he spent living at the property, Donovan took full advantage of its surroundings, regularly sharing videos of the garden on his Instagram account, including a January 2023 clip of a flock of robins visiting a birdbath on the grounds.

Other highlights of the grounds include a 80-foot lap pool, designed for those “who truly appreciate swimming as a daily ritual,” as well as plenty of space for outdoor dining and relaxation areas. A covered porch houses a sizeable grill for outdoor meal preparation.
There is also a fenced garden in the backyard, ideal for those who want to grow fruit or vegetables.
“Flanked by limestone terraces and surrounded by the beauty of the landscape, it transforms the backyard into a private wellness retreat. Here, mornings begin with sunlight filtering through the trees, afternoons unfold beside the pool, and evenings settle into the quiet rhythm of Hill Country living,” the listing concluded.
While it is unclear why Donovan and his wife decided to sell their Lone Star State base, they do already own another home in California, where the actor is regularly seen spending time with Biggie, one of his beloved dogs.
Property records show that the actor owns a three-bedroom Santa Monica dwelling that he purchased for $1.63 million in 2009 — and which is located less than a mile from the beach.
