The fashion icons who once defined the runway have traded the catwalk for global property moves worth more than $1.4bn.

While they once shared the covers of Vogue, today the original ‘Big Six’ supermodels share the world’s most exclusive postcodes, flipping mansions and acquiring private islands.

Here is a breakdown of the property power players.

Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber have become one of Hollywood’s most prolific real estate players with a combined net worth of $US400 million ($A570 million).

The couple have owned a number of extremely impressive properties over the decades.

In 1998, they paid $US1.85 million ($A2.6 million) for their first oceanfront Malibu home.

The pair listed the residence for sale in 2019 for $US7.5 million ($A10.6 million). Before hitting the market, they had been renting the property for $US45,000 ($A64,000) per month.

The duo splurged on a massive oceanfront Malibu property in 1999 for $US4.8 million ($A6.8 million).

In 2015, the couple forked out $US50.5 million ($A71.9 million) for the two-parcel property next door to create a 6-acre compound. In 2018, they offloaded half of the estate for $US45 million ($A64 million).

The pair paid musician Ryan Tedder $US11.6 million ($A16.5 million) in 2017 for one of his Beverly Hills mansions.

The Crawford-Gerbers previously owned a mansion in the uber-exclusive El Dorado Golf & Beach Club community in Los Cabos, Mexico. Gerber’s tequila partner George Clooney, owned the house next door.

In April 2016, a Mexican billionaire paid $US100 million ($A150 million) to buy both homes at once, $US50 million ($A75 million) a pop.

They previously owned a 23-acre property in the hills above Malibu that, at one time, was a kid’s camp.

The couple bought the compound in 2014 for $US6 million ($A8.5 million). They spent millions on upgrades and renovations, then sold it for $US13.3 million ($A18.9 million) in 2016.

Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell’s property taste is as legendary and eclectic as her runway walk, with an estimated $US80 million ($A113 million) fortune tied up in architectural marvels.

While dating Vladislav Doronin, the Russian-born businessman built her a £109 million ($A211 million) futuristic mansion in Moscow.

After their break-up, it was put on the market for £78 million ($A151 million).

Doronin also gave Campbell a birthday gift of a 25-bedroom vacation home on Turkey’s Cleopatra Island.

The home is called “Eco-House Horus” because it’s a sustainable building shaped like the Egyptian Eye of Horus.

In 2005, Campbell paid $US4 million ($A5.6 million) for a Manhattan duplex and sold it for $US4.5 million ($A6.4 million) the following year.

Kate Moss

Kate Moss has traded the London party scene for a rural life, holding a $US70m ($A98 million) fortune.

The one-time Calvin Klein pin-up girl paid about £2 million ($A3.8 million) in 2003 for a 10-bedroom property in the village of Oxfordshire Cotswold in Little Faringdon.

The model purchased a mansion in London’s Highgate district for about £8 million ($A15.5 million) in 2011.

Moss joined a host of other British celebs who also live in the area. She reportedly was eager to move out of her previous London property, which was targeted by thieves and suffered from serious plumbing issues.

Claudia Schiffer

The German bombshell, who is worth $US70m ($A98 million), and her husband, director Matthew Vaughn, maintain a collection of properties.

The couple primarily resides in a historic 14-bedroom Tudor mansion in Suffolk, England.

Built in 1574, the 530-acre estate features H-shaped architecture, a great hall, and a long gallery.

The pair purchased the property after a spontaneous visit and eventually held their wedding there in 2002.

The couple own an abode located on the borders of Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire.

The Cotswolds home features floor-to-ceiling windows, mid-century furnishings, and a collection of contemporary art by David Hockney and others.

Schiffer has homes in Notting Hill and Holland Park to maintain a base for “London life”.

The model previously owned a clifftop retreat in Mallorca, Spain, which she bought for $2.5 million. The residence was made up of three separate villas.

The property, Camp de Mar Estate, boasted 12 bedrooms, an infinity pool, and sea views from every room. She reportedly sold the estate to a European investor in 2017.

Linda Evangelista

Linda Evangelista has an estimated net worth of $40 million (A$56 million) and owns one piece of real estate.

The Canadian model paid $US5.7 million ($A8 million) in 1997 for a Manhattan penthouse in The Spears building.

She listed the four-bedroom apartment for sale in May 2024 for $US9.45 million ($A13.3 million). The price tag was recently slashed to $US7.99 million ($A11.2 million).

Linda Evangelista owns one piece of real estate.


During the 1990s, Evangelista was one of the highest-paid and most popular supermodels on the planet.

In the 1980s the glamour girl famously proclaimed that she would not get out of bed for less than $US10,000 ($A15,000) a day.

By the 1990s, Evangelista earned $US25,000 ($A35,000) per day. At her peak, she regularly earned $5-8 million ($A7.5-11.2 million) per year.

Christy Turlington

Christy Turlington and her husband, actor Edward Burns, have a combined net worth of $40 million (A$56 million). The couple have high-end properties in Manhattan and the Hamptons.

In 2002, the pair purchased two adjacent triplex penthouses in Tribeca for $US8 million ($A11.3 million).

Turlington and Burns own a getaway in the Hamptons, where they frequently spend their holidays.

In 2003, they were reportedly building or renovating a property in the Georgica Close area of East Hampton.

Turlington previously owned a historic 1849 Greek Revival townhouse in the West Village. The home was listed for sale in 2002 for $US5.8 million ($A8.1 million).

Earlier in her career, she owned a duplex in the Police Building, which she sold in 2000 for $US850,000 ($A1.2 million).
