IAMGIA co-founder Alana Pallister is selling her loft-style apartment in Abbotsford.
The co-founder of one of Australia’s biggest fashion labels, I.AM.GIA, is selling the eccentric warehouse-turned-apartment where the “iconic” brand was born.
Fashion designer Alana Pallister is asking for $1.45m-$1.55m for her three-bedroom Abbotsford apartment, located at 8 Trenerry Cres.
The property is hidden among the architecturally transformed BYFAS silk mill, which was built in 1937 and manufactured parachute silk during World War II.

The creative mind behind fashion brand I.AM.GIA said the “eclectic aesthetic” of the New York loft-style apartment told a story.
“It feels like Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw iconic,” Ms Pallister said.
“High ceilings and natural light from the floor to ceiling windows is quintessential NYC and reminds me of my time there exploring the city.
“It is so spacious for an inner city apartment which is hard to come by in Melbourne.”

Alongside sister Stevie, in 2017 Ms Pallister launched the fashion brand, which quickly captured the attention of A-list celebrities including Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner.
Pop-star Ariana Grande even wore an I.AM.GIA bikini in her music video for smash-hit Thank U, Next in 2018, the same year Ms Pallister bought the Abbotsford apartment.
The “eclectic aesthetic” of the apartment drew Ms Pallister in.
The loft is “quintessential” New York City, according to the fashion designer.
She said many of her creative ideas were conceived there.
“Creativity is at the heart of this home, it was where I.AM.GIA was born,” Ms Pallister said.
“I lived there on and off as I travelled back and forth from Los Angeles, and coming home always felt truly amazing, it allowed me to reset and calibrate.”

Creativity is at the heart of the Abbotsford apartment, where internationally renowned fashion brand I.AM.GIA was born.
The kitchen features a breakfast bar at its centre.
Fashion fanatics might even notice the zebra-print feature wall in the home is inspired by one of the brand’s first collections.
“I spent many long hours and days designing in the home before relocating to LA to expand my business,” Ms Pallister said.
“The wallpaper in the home is actually a print from one of my earliest I.AM.GIA collections that encapsulates GIA’s rock and roll character.”
A zebra-print feature wall is the star of the show in the apartment’s living and dining area.
Ms Pallister said the apartment’s feature wall was inspired by a zebra print from one of her earliest I.AM.GIA collections.
The apartment features three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two car spaces, making optimal use of northern orientation, with sun streaming through metal frame windows all day.
Complete with that unique zebra pattern feature wall, towering ceiling, and breakfast bar, real estate agency Jellis Craig said the apartment’s “designer flair” made it one of the suburb’s finest.
Two of the home’s bedrooms have built-in wardrobes, and sit to either side of a combined bathroom and laundry. A mezannine level hosts the main bedroom which comes with a dressing room and its own ensuite.
The main bedroom’s ensuite features an impressive spa bath.
The apartment makes optimal use of space with a combined laundry and second bathroom.
The apartment is in a secure building a short walk to local landmarks including the Abbotsford Convent and the Collingwood Children’s Farm, as well as local bars and eateries, trains and walking trails.
Ms Pallister said the location of the apartment and its surrounds were a major highlight.
“It’s open, yet cosy and has always felt very safe and secure, plus it has a real sense of community, with everyone always looking out for each other,” she said.
“It is perfect for anyone looking for an urban inner city vibe that also wants nature right at their door step.
“It really is the best of both worlds.”
The inner-city home offers the best of both worlds, where nature is right at your doorstep.
Some of Ms Pallister’s fondest memories are of hosting dinner parties and entertaining guests in the home.
“It’s a cosmopolitan entertainer’s dream,” she said.
Other property highlights include C-Bus automation, concrete and timber floors, heating and cooling, a north facing entertainer’s balcony, storage cage, and a residents’ gym.
